I recieved an email a couple of weeks ago from a home loan specialist. I hope it helps. Regards, Dazster.
"Based on having a salary of $90,000 per annum your borrowing capacity will be approx $400,000.
Loan repayments would on the following loan amounts will be:
$400,000 = $3271/month or $755/week
$350,000 = $2862/month or $660/week
$300,000 = $2453/month or $566/week
$250,000 = $2045/month or 472/week
As permanent residents you are eligible for the $7000 First Home Owners Grant. This is an initiative from the Federal Government which assists First Home Buyers get into the property market. I understand you may have had property in Scotland.but as you have not ever owned property in Australia, you are entitled tot he Grant.
As a First Home Buyer you are also not charged Transfer Stamp Duty which is also a BIG saving. If you purchase a block of land under $300,000, the stamp duty charges is NIL (As long as you have entered into a building contract with a builder to have a home built on the block) or if you purchase an already established home under $500,000 stamp duty is NIL. So being First Home Buyers is great and you get lots of assistance from the Government!!"

Hi were in WA too, were in Shoalwater which is in Rockingham feel free to message me if you would like to meet up.
Alrighty! We finally got to Perth, WA, last Wednesday at around tea time. It's been a totally hectic first week but we've managed to secure a one year rental, a new car, and a school for our daughter who starts on Monday. All of that together with getting my WA driving license and looking around at furniture and electrical goods for the new rental.
We've done so much that it feels like we've been here for ages - but it's only just over a week
And today I went to see an employment agency who reckon they'll be able to get me some interviews next week.
It's sunny almost every day, but not THAT warm - although last week was nice and we've been to 3 different beaches so far. There are wild parrots/cockatoos/parakeets flying around which is a change from the pigeons and crows back in the UK! We haven't seen any spiders or snakes yet as it's not warm enough.
There's so much to tell I couldn't possible fit it all in to one post! So if anyone has any specific questions then fire away.
Cheers,
Dazster

Hi all thought I would update you all from Adelaide. We have been here 11 weeks and have had lots of ups and downs, more downs than ups but life is slowly getting better.
The hardest part was getting work, hubby came out on his skills but was unable to get work as a Gas Fitter he has at last got a job installing car ports and varandahs never done it before but loves it, starts at 7am and finishes about 2.30pm.
I am on my second job, started new job yesterday and love it. The rollercoaster of emotions does not end when you emigrate but we are for the first time enjoying being in Australia and the weather is warming up which is even better.
No doubt we will have more hassles to overcome but at the moment life is not too bad.

Just get yourselves there
PS We are flying from Singapore to Cairns with Qantas. I figure after their recent air disaster, it's probably a safe time to fly with them! LOL!
