All kidding aside, we're just trying to be helpful. While your request doesn't seem ridiculous to you, it seems ridiculous to many here. Now if she was throwing cigarette butts on your property, or smoking on YOUR property, etc. different matter all together.

That's why cushioning a request may get you further. Perhaps this is a cultural difference, but rather than poo pooing the advice, or getting angry - think on it a bit. It may prove helpful sometime in the future.
