snowbunny, should you ever have to go again you need to visit the beauty of the surrey hills where the villages are...kingston/richmond are all suburbs of london good for shopping and commuting but not exactly beauty although some buildings and architecture are something else...lol beats this ugly metropolis anyday

Nothing more beautiful than England in the sunshine -- I grant that -- and driving around on B roads or roads that aren't even on the map! Houston is an eyesore and I wouldn't live there, but if I mention that Austin is better one more time... (coats being hurled at me)
I actually filmed the rock walls covered in moss in Derbyshire. We were in little villages on roads with no numbers, only signposts, and that was wonderful.
Sun and warmth *can* make or break a place -- Ronnie Lane from Little Faces had to leave the UK for Austin due to his health (multiple sclerosis).

As I said -- a beautiful place when it's not cold and wet and dark. The weak sun shining on the Kent coast and Canterbury cathedral lifted my spirits immensely.
FWIW cold and damp kicks in my asthma and joint pain .... makes me feel about 100 years old. Ask Professional Princess -- we wheezed together.
If someone didn't have those problems, then they well might come away with a more favourable opinion.

Yes I do miss the brits and their sense of humour. How is your pussy by the way? Sorry I meant pussies.

tks for asking jersey...not good news i'm afraid
...millie only went in for a tooth to be removed and the dr (lol) damaged millie's windpipe when she put the tube (don't know the name) down millie's throat to enable millie to have gas for the surgery. i brought millie home thurs afternoon and was back at the vets 7am next day...when the dr saw millie she was amazed she had survived the night and the dr who performed the tooth extraction felt so bad.. the xrays confirmed the damage the dr had done. millie had to have further emergency surgery yesterday after spending a day in an oxygen tent in a fancy vetinary hospital to sew up the hole in her windpipe and has staples in her throat and side (inbetween her ribs)....and we are now faced with huge bills...half of which we had to pay up front...although millie is 10 she is a strong little cat and so we have our fingers crossed. she may be home wed or thurs.

I'm so sorry to hear about Millie is she tiny? Surely the vet should cover all your expenses including the initial surgery, even if he is not legally responsible surely he should be morally. I don't think vets here are anythying like as caring as the ones in the UK. Its so heartbreaking when our pets are sick, I know I've had my heartbroken many times over the the last 30 yrs.
I hope Millie makes a speedy recovery TruBrit, all the best.

OMG this really sucks!
First of all I hope Millie makes a full recovery.
Secondly, surely, in view of the cock-up you shouldn't have to pay the full bill?
