Re: Truck Advice
Earlier today, while visiting one of those Monolithic Super Bookstores, I had a quick glance at the current Consumer Report's buyers guide. It gave the Toyota Tundra much-better-than-average marks for predicted depreciation, reliability and owner satisfaction. If you can live with a smaller motor, there is a 6-cylinder variant; otherwise, you can choose one with a small block V-8.
If you plan on doing a lot of heavy towing, you might want something with a large-block V-8, such as a big-block Chevy (454ci = 7.5 liters) or diesel Ford for the torque and heavy-duty transmission. But if you're just hauling stuff around in the bed of the truck and carrying people, the Toyota may do the trick.

I think these tests show the durability and build quality of a Toyota truck. The basically dropped a caravan on it, left it on a beach for the tide to come, run into a tree, set it on fire and the thing still kept going...

Thats pretty amazing stuff. Quite a testimony. But I dunno if a US built modern day truck is as tough as a 13 year old UK built hilux based on how much stuff falls apart and just stops working here.
