Look at how much money is invested in the government and corporations do what they can to see they get the best return of their investment, so it wouldn't be a stretch to see them targeting swing states.

Petrol is usually only ever cheap in maine when there's an election as well.

That's probably because of the stock market....Dow industrials jumped some 900 points yesterday.

$2.40 in the posh bit of town (where I was forced to fill up, but hey, one of the last remaining full service stations in town and I sorely needed the air in my tires topped up) -- $2.24 in the not-so-posh bits I drove by later.

It's $1.93 here, but if you pay cash at Swifty you get it for $1.88 there.

I have no idea. Neil's theory is that Ohio is important in the election. My theory is that we have a lot competition amongst stations (they're everywhere), cheap real estate, lots of farms & longer commutes to work means they sell more so they can afford to offer it a lower price, we're lucky, and Midwesterners are the nicest people in the U.S. so we get a break.

Hmmm all good points especially "midwesterners are the nicest people in the U.S." where as we are all mad as bollox
I like Neil's theory except that Virginia is also a swing state "hole in the boat state" as described on Morning Joe, but their gas is no cheaper than gas here. Your theory is good too except this part of WV is exactly like what your describe there in Ohio (if you want a good job you have to drive in to NoVa or MD). So there, thats it. We have proved it, it is because you get the NICE award

OK so I just had to add this downer.....Exxon Mobil earned 15 Billion dollars this last quarter....earned off the backs of hard working people

It was $2.25 at our Costco yesterday but my gods, you should've seen the lines!
I think I would have burned through half a tank just waiting.

$2.39 at the regular station down the road.

Because Ohio is a well kept secret. Everyone disses it and it's cities but there are reasons to live here I tell you!
