I'll be happy to pass out the combat helmets to those innocent bystanders who're about to be caught in the middle of this war.

I think the US worker is more efficient than an EU worker. I saw the figures a few months ago, they went something like this;
Average company earnings per employee,
1. US -> $60,000
2. France -> $50,000
3. UK -> $45,000
I'll try to find a source on the Internet for it.

Also according to the Dave Ramsey radio show, the mean average income in the USA is $42,000

Just thought I'd ask. We Americans sometimes wonder about the dreams of other nations.

I lived out in Singapore for a few years prior to moving to the US and the local media (all closely monitored by the government) was and is constantly reporting on speeches by the Senior Minister, Lee Kwan Yew or the Prime Minister (the current one just happens to be his son..)
The country is supposed to be democratic but it's pretty much a dictatorship as the PAP (People's Action Party) has been in power since the republic was founded in 1965. Every day in the newspapers and on TV and radio there are reports that Singapore must be No.1.....and they're reminded about the 'Singapore Dream' (the govt. wants to emulate Switzerland apparently):

http://www.mita.gov.sg/pressroom/press_020402.html
http://www.asiaweek.com/asiaweek/96/0906/nat2.html
(On the other hand the locals obsess about striving for the goal of the 5C's so they feel that they have acheived in life - Cash, Condominium, Credit Card, Car and Country Club membership!!!!
As an aside....I don't feel that there is a British Dream...but maybe there is for economic migrants whom are desperate to gain entry to the UK; even now there are hundreds of would-be asylum seekers waiting it out in northern France (Calais and Sangatte) in Red Cross centres to seize an opportunity to get across the Channel to England.....yet they're not being persecuted in France are they? Also with the UK having historical links with some of the old colonial nations, many citizens of Commonwealth countries - especially the Indian sub-continent are only too keen to have an opportunity to begin a new life in the UK.

You're having a rough time in life right now aren't you?
So if I'm living out on the streets, no car, no house, raising my kids under a bridge, that'll make me happy as long as I have a good relationship with the other homeless people?
