Hey, don't jinx us! Don't we have a Mardi Gras parade here in Austin these days?

Any other Gulf coast towns that have a Mardi Gras celebration with tits and beads?

I wonder if the hotel where Toontje and I stayed this past summer will be left standing.

Wow look at this:

I'm fascinated by this force of nature; apparently there was once a plan to destroy larger hurricanes with a nuclear weapon but it was considered unworkable because they are too big.

The inlaws are living in Houston, and they're on their way up to Austin right now to camp out with Sister in law and her family.
Fingers crossed for anyone else in the area.

It's very sad when people lose their homes but surely a British built brick house would withstand strong winds? It seems most homes in America are made out of paper and lolly sticks!

Most of the houses damaged were Victorian & apparently it damaged one type of roof in particular. Most houses could be saved, but as far as I know they have condemned a few all in one street because the damage was so severe.
(BTW, it reminds me of the Bible story about building your house on the rocks as opposed to sand...).
