Most of the houses damaged were Victorian & apparently it damaged one type of roof in particular. Most houses could be saved, but as far as I know they have condemned a few all in one street because the damage was so severe.

(BTW, it reminds me of the Bible story about building your house on the rocks as opposed to sand...).
We have family in a town near the sea down in Southern England.........its been hit a few time by twisters...and each time houses lost walls and roofs.......I remember reading that Southsea was hit by a large twister in the early 1900s and a lot of buildings just fell down.......

It is. They think that the area the tornado hit in Birmingham is literally an "alley", because the same area has been hit before.

I had a lot of info on Birt Twisters years ago......but that was a few PCs ago.......
England has about 40 a year........the biggest hitting
Plymouth in 1810...213 mile an hour winds.........I was also told that one hit Southsea....but I've never found any info on it .........
my interest went back to Hurricaines after moving to the Cape........

Just found out I had the wrong dates and the wrong place......it was 1810 14th December: A tornado left a trail of havoc. Portsmouth. (Hampshire)
