A) If every gun were traceable (and I mean, really traceable),
B) every bullet were traceable,
C) and every purchase was properly traceable (there are still loopholes today, we all agree), and -
D) the last legal purchaser was held responsible for subsequent acts committed with the weapon (practically encouraging better care of firearms),
B) Utterly impossible.
C) Impossible to achieve. How would you trace transfers among friends and relatives for example?
D) That couldn't possibly be constitutional. If someone stole your tool box and then clubbed somebody to death with your framing hammer, would you be responsible for that act?

OOC, what % of the population do the prisoners represent? The number of prisoners don't mean much, until you look at them wrt to the entire population.

I see a trend though. An encouraging one, that manifested itself in the kids at the pool thread. More and more of you are coming round to reason and logic.
