Nasty, horrible stuff - not really edible.
It'd be healthier to eat the counter.

Next town along the highway has a Golden Coral ....all you can eat buffet....
Spent 5 minutes in the place once ....slop is the only word I can think of that describes the food..runny slop at that. Now I'm not a little bloke by any standards but in that place I felt positively skinny ...

There are 2 Applebee's close to us (each 5 miles in either direction of our house) and it is surprising how different they can be. One is quite good, always clean, staff is "with the program, and food is always more than acceptable for a chain. The other one however is a bit less than desirable.

I hadn't eaten at Taco Bell in over 15 years but thought I would give them another go last week. My thinking was; who knows, they may have improved from crap to edible, but alas no, it was still as disgusting a ever - glad to see my gag reflex is still in good working order though.

Jalapeño cheese cornbread is delicious.
As Cindy said, it's a version of journey cake. It was easy, fast and cheap to make while on a journey, so the pioneers and the cowboys on long cow drives would make it. No yeast needed, no rising, etc, could be baked in a pan over the fire or fried. Corn bread is great fried as in hush puppies (though don't get the ones from Long John Silver's).

Most of these Restaurants that are mentioned are fast food. Out of the Freezer and into the fryer! They are okay for what they are, but you'll never get real cooking for those prices. There are a lot of people that are happy with whats slopped in front of them, as long as its CHEAP!! Give some people a free crap beer & wine, and they're happy!
Small family run Restaurants are my favourite, because they care. Most corporate run establishments don't give a toss as long as they are making money!!
