Last week received my holiday visa....

...my timeline is a bit f***ed due to the global system crash and getting my passport back to allow me to fly so im not going to post it in detail because someone will base what happened to me on what will happen to them and i'll ruin their life and spend all the money in their bank account on flights they'll miss once in a lifetime family events, marriages, deaths and births and....it'll all be my fault.....lol

so...anyway...I have the visa !

My timeline
Interview 5th February 2015
Email received 12th August and sent passport to consulate via express post same day
Passport with 5 year visa now in my hands, just in the nick of time flying out 23 August
What a stressful and irritating 27 weeks and 5 days, which thankfully will not have to go thru until 2020. wishing everyone else the best of luck. will keep updated if I have to go through any further checks once landing in Hawaii

We are at 29 weeks and just don't know now what's going to happen after being asked to submit paperwork again. Its such a frustrating process, I am glad you have yours back and get to leave on the weekend. We still have 10 days but I am losing hope and I hate that feeling. We are also going to Hawaii, well I am anyway with the kids may have to go again in a couple of months with my husband if he cant come this time.

Enjoy your trip and thanks for keeping us updated.

Hi people first and foremost I hope you are all well 

I am a newbie and someone who can relate to everyone’s frustration as I am currently awaiting this ‘e-mail’ for a Waiver of Ineligibilty.

My story:

Crime – GBH 2008, did not go to prison however.

Interview at London US Embassy – January 23rd 2015

Duration since – 31 weeks

I am getting married and wanting to go on honeymoon to the US on October 28th 2015, however I have not booked anything so far due to the issue with the VISA.

Yes, theoretically I can go somewhere else. But, my heart is set on the US as is my partner’s and especially now after this nightmare VISA application I don’t want all our efforts, costs and frustrations going to waste.

The reason why I am posting, is firstly so that I can be assistance to everyone and secondly to pick everyone’s brain.

I understand that this email can come whenever and even then I have got to send my passport off and await for it to return, which after reading the previous posts, can be long as well.

Now do I stick or twist? LOL!

Do I book elsewhere now and then be disappointed if I receive a successful waiver? Or do I wait further? At the moment I am thinking to wait until the 33 month mark, that will still give me 1 and half months before my wedding? Or shall I cut my losses and book somewhere else? Any help will be much appreciated.

Thank you 

What is the CEAC status, my number was given to me on a piece of paper but when it didn't appear on the document they told me to look at I contacted them, they replied it would not appear on any document and I just had to wait until they contacted me.

Hey neverforget!!!

Please please please in the name of Baby Cheeses book anything. It would appear the very minimal time for approval is 27 weeks but there are some here that are still waiting after 40 weeks. It's not worth the angst of waiting for it to come through. I would suggest booking somewhere else. In my case my interview was Feb 12. I also applied for Canada which took just over 3 months. So we are off there instead.
We will do the states next year.
Good luck :fingerscrossed:

It's a web page where you can check the status of your application however it doesn't really tell you anything until after you have received any emails. https://ceac.state.gov/CEACStatTracker/Status.aspx You need your application number to look it up.

Re: Nonimmigrant Visa Waiver of Ineligibility Application

Hey cazz! Thanks for replying. I really can't believe how long winded this waiver of ineligibility application process is. I agree fully with your advice of booking elsewhere, however as I stated before the USA was our first choice for our honeymoon and what we really want (hence why I went through the whole application, which as we all know is easier said than done). Another problem is, our other choices are a lot more expensive and even then more of a make do as opposed to what we really want if that makes any sense? But I know time is running out and maybe time to concede defeat, a life of checking my email account every hour on the hour surely can't be doing my health any favours lol. I think the 33 week is my cut off, fingers crossed but I'm not going to hold my breath! I wish you and everyone else reading luck!

The approval process takes about 10 minutes. The time spent waiting for that to happen is due to the hundreds of thousands of applications that are ahead of yours in line. Further, it's not a high priority for the US government and they have no interest in whether or not their procedure is inconvenient for you.

Thank you Ian that really does make sense of it all. I think my advice to anyone would be if your going to apply then you need to allow yourself a year's worth of time in advance as I began my application from scratch in October 2014. Fingers crossed for all... Best wishes.

Re: Nonimmigrant Visa Waiver of Ineligibility Application

We're behind you week 23 tomorrow. Hopefully will be his 5th visa.

I would wait as close as you can until you book something just in case it does arrive in time & you can go.

I've been speaking with someone who her husband had his interview January 16th & they had email last week.

Re: Nonimmigrant Visa Waiver of Ineligibility Application

My worry is that if I leave it let's say for example until the end of September, then I send passport off, I don't get it back in time for the date I'm due to go on my honeymoon? The date I'm pencilled in to go is October 28th. At the moment everything seems so hit and miss and I admit I am a worrier but I'm not going to lie my heart is set on going to the USA hence why I applied for my Visa and went through this long winded process and that's even before adding the costs (sorry rant over lol)! Lets hope yours comes way before you get to week 31 or week 40 like some of the people on this forum (bless them)

Could you not move it back a little? Although I really would hope you would be hearing soon. Did you apply in London?

Where in America are you hoping to visit?

Re: Nonimmigrant Visa Waiver of Ineligibility Application

We are running out of time for our booked holiday to receive the visa, has anyone else ever been asked to supply documents at about the time the visa should be issued? If so how long after the extra documents were supplied did it take to get the approval? they requested this information 3 weeks ago, I fear we have been put to the bottom of the pile again.

Re: Nonimmigrant Visa Waiver of Ineligibility Application

Unfortunately we cannot change the dates either my holidays from work were only available for those dates and then also my partner is due to start her new job when we get back. I guess all we can do is stay positive, share information and have a back up plan as nothing seems to be set in concrete.

•It is your responsibility to check the email address you provided on your Visa Appointment Service account, including any junk or spam folders, for any updates. If your email address changes, you must update it via https://ais.usvisa-info.com/en-gb.

This is from part of an email reply I had - just an automated one.

Hi people hope you're all well. A quick query today, let's say for example I wanted to catch a flight that stops in the USA before I carry on to my chosen destination, am I able to do this?

Sorry to say but I'm rather convinced that's not an option, had a friend who last year who traveled to Mexico and had a connecting flight in Miami, she had to get an ESTA just for the connection even though she never entered the US.

No - you'd need a transit visa to do that, and that means an entirely new visa process for you - starting again from scratch.
