The things that bug me most............
#1
Well I have been here 7 and a half months but today is my six month anniversary of starting my job here. So I reckon an update is called for.
I love my new life, bought a car, rented a nice house cheap as chips. I get to the coast to surf as often as possible and I found a friend with a horse I can ride whever I want. :-) I also joined a gym (first time for everything) and I get up at 5.30am to go???
The people in my team at work are amazing and have made me feel really welcome, however the town I live in is very "local" and if you're not "local" then dont bother. but hey its not forever and soon enough I'll be able to move wherever I want to.
I miss my family at home (my Dad is going to have a triple bypass soon and I am planning to go home for a few weeks to help him through that) and I still havent sold my damn house (but who cares). Apart from that I absolutely love it here and I have no regrets whatsoever.
But...........there are certain little things about this place that really get on my wick. I thought I would share some of them with you. Forewarned is forearmed as they say.
1. Telstra. Come back BT all is forgiven.
2. Bigpond Wireless. Come back BT all is forgiven
3. Gash tea bags. Luckily you can get 240 PG Tips for $35 off the net 48 hour delivery.
4. Drivers. Well technically you cant call it driving. Its just aiming really and they are not even very good at that.
5. Schooners. Nuff said.
6. Being called a Pom. Dont get me started.
7. Beaut Utes with more aerials than Joddrell Bank. What is that about?
8. Offies that close at 8pm
9. The expectation that I usually drink my beer warm. We have fridges in England too you know.
10. Being asked when I am going home.............................................. ..................
..........................to be continued.

You women are never happy.

Glad things are going well pony bar the few niggles. I agree with the driving one, they seem to do what they want. Oh, and offies closing at 8pm is no biggie, as you should have a dedicated beer fridge always stocked up - it's your own fault if you don't.

Do you know you are absolutely right - I need to take more responsibility! Ha.
Living the dream my friend - I love it here, its awesome, but I wouldn't be English, or female if I wasnt pointing out where minor improvements could be made.

Hi Ponyrama,
We were looking at Thirroul as a possible place to rent when we arrive (my bro lives in Figtree, used to live in the Gong so we're thinking somewhere down that way but within commuting distance of Sydney). Would you not recommend it there then? Don't want to live somewhere that models itself on Royston Vasey!!
thanks!
Tx

$35 for teabags??? The word 'mug' comes to mind. Try Tetley allrounders. About $3.00 for 100!

Do you reckon it's too far out to commute in to Sydney every day? My current commute in London is just over an hour so ideally I'd like this or less once we move! It's so hard to pick somewhere to live but we're hoping to see lots of places when we go on our validation trip in a few weeks. Woohoo!!! Tx
