Haven't completely given up yet still trying hard.

I wouldnt worry to much about BMI there are people on her with BMI's over 40 and one with a BMI of 50 who have got visas as long as you have no side effects of the BMI or are on medication to control it you will be fine. Believe me I know not tell you what my BMI is and we have cleared meds stage.

Sent of our last forms today re son to our agent and then onward.

My worry is that I do have high blood pressure although it is contriolled with medication and all my bloods, cholesterol, sugars, heart etc are o.k (I have a report from the doctor to say this, docs letter also states I am losing weight and I have no other medical conditions). The Blood pressure is what worries me if my B.M.I is slightly over. B.P is under the required level (with meds)?????
High blood pressure could be classed as a side effect of B.M.I..it is as I have never had high B.P until I put on a few stone!! It is really worrying me and don't know whether to just go for the meds and risk it or try to lose more weight..don't want to leave it too long and risk losing job. Think I will call panel doctor and discuss it.

My gut instinct is and from reading what others have said is you will be fine.

We waited and waited for us to do the meds and for me to loose the weight this is why we are still here to be honest. Hubby at his highest had a BP of 186/156 now controlled by medication, his BMI was 29 at the time not to bad I know.

I never did loose any weight and I have a high BMI unfortunately which I am doing something about now but we still passed and we wasted all that time worrying.

I know its worrying liz but just go for it I am sat here wondering what all the fuss was about me. Eventually it has to be done realistically how much can you loose short term without going on the Cambridge diet

Thanks Kaye
Cambridge diet has been considered. I am going to books meds for 3 weeks..I know on Cambridge I can lose over one and a half stone on Cambridge diet!! That may not be enoughbut it will get B.M.I down a bit..I can always appeal it if I fail!! Hopefully they will see it as being a sponsored position with contract signed etc etc. I may do a supporting letter for myself to go with the docs letter...at least G.P is backing me up.
have you got wierd weather there..it has just hailed, snowed, thunder and lightning..too freaky for my liking.
Just watching sarah beeney on property ladder and they are showing Sandbanks in Poole, Dorset coast. i used to live near there. it is the only place I would live in this country now, prob is you need to be loaded to live there!!

Will e mail you after the meds unless you mail me with news first.

Palm Cove, love it there..must see if we can find 6 months rent upfront to secure a nice rental! Would be great to go straight into a rental on arrival there...are you waiting for furniture and sat on bean bags???
Keep us updated.
Liz and jenx
we went on realestate.com.au and got our rental 3weeks before we moved and we were sat on furniture for two days (normally super a mart etc ) deliver same day but we had 2 wait 2 days with it being xmas!! we would wait 6 weeks or more in uk though for a sofa and stuff so cant complain. it pays to try and get most of your stuff from one shop as they all charge for delivery either that or hire a trailer and pick up yourself.
if your overseas you can just scan the realtor all the docs and forms for rental we offered to pay 6 mths upfront to secure our home but its not really nessacery.humidity is fine lots of water in our flood ditch and a few crawlies washing down with it too.x

i just wached the cairns one too and i think it is where we would like to go too. As a nurse I can go anywhere really but my hubby is in a business, retail, IT line of work so he would probably find more in Perth, but i think he would find something in Cairns even if just working in a store or something to start with, but i think my wages will go further in cairns than they would in perth and although house prices still aren't cheap they don't seem as high as in Perth.

i realy really want to do it and we have nothing to stop us really. I have 10 yrs nursing experience including dialysis and ICU, only i haven't worked over 20 hours for the past 2 years so i will need to either up my hours for 12 months, go over on a 457 or try to get a RSMS visa. we don't really have family to leave as my inlaws already are expats in cyprus, and my parents we see rarely anyway. The only problem we face is the costs, we don't own a home so have no equity and have no savings at the moment so having enough for the actual move is a bit of a problem at the moment. I definatly fancy regional QLD though, either Cairns or Townsville

In that case do it you have nothing to loose and only something to gain.

Have you approcahed the hospital in Cairns i'm sure one of the nurses on here is newly qualified with 1 years experience and is on sponsorship.

I'm sure the hospital puts you up in rent free accommodation for a bit.

Go on do it dont put it off any longer if you are stuck one of us will put you up.

yeah, but unfortunatly with 2 kids, the whole cost of flights, setting up, buying car etc. will need saving up. At least being a nurse i know we could go out and i will be bringing home a wage from the start so wouldn't need to worry about money to live off other than for the first week or so.

I am desperate to sample another life overseas, not dreadfully unhappy in the UK at all, but just fancy experiencing life in another country. Seeing my inlaws expat life gives me the urge.

what kind of visa are you going over on Wardy? I'm pretty sure that the hospitals and QLD will sponsor for visas no problem and i wouldn't mind going over on a 457 as long as they would sponsor me for PR after say 6 months, but would prefer if they would sponsor for a RSMS but i don't seem to hear of many nurses going over on those.

Do you have any contact details for the hospitals in the cairns area at all? I've got the expression of interest forms from the QLD health website but can't find contact details for the hospitals

I am so with you..I keep looking at my holiday photos, books and I know its the only place I want to be. After seeing Perth on there I felt the same although the couple lacked any sort of enthusiasm. I wonder sometimes if the programme is a free holiday for some! After all, how can you be shocked at house prices when you can just go on the internet and do research before going out there! Perth is very expensive.

Do you know the couple on the programme today? Sounds like the may be going even though she can only get marine Biologist work in Townsville..we checked Townsville out too. I turned down a decent job offer there..not green enough for me.

smart jobs on queensland government site was one site Jen looks at jobs (OH).
Take care

Cairns is great..my favourite but everyone has different taste! I have come over on a RSMS visa..or will be soon! It takes about 5-7 months as there are two parts to the visa. i wanted to go down the skills route but only have 9 months in my job so also couldn't. A sponsor may be the best route for you by the sounds of it. You won't have a problem finding work as a nurse and as kaye says we have a good group gong out by the sounds of it. lots of girls nights out we reckon!
Good luck whatever you decide. Been through the whole RSMS vis application process so if anything you need let me know.

We have sold both cars, 2 motorbikes and a bit of furniture..that is paying for us getting over there..then we will have an old banger and I will have a slower motorbike (only short term sacrifices but painful ones all the same).!!
We will also have enough money for rental deposit and thats it! How scary is that..but also exciting.
Liz
