WTF in America

Re: WTF in America
We nearly had riots and public lynchings a couple of years back when the school district tried to increase the boundary for school bus eligibility. I think it was going up to 1/2 mile for elementary (from 1/4) and 1 mile for JH/HS (from 1/2). I didn't really take much notice, as it didn't affect us, but it was amusing seeing the outpouring of public outrage. Quite interesting, coming from a community that is normally so sanguine about provision of services...no, you're poor, no healthcare for you, but we're rich and we want Johnny to ride the school bus, dammit....! Has it always been like that here? When did the pioneer spirit get beaten out of folk? The west would never have been won if the wagon trains had been populated by the pathetic whiny "its not fair" scrotes that live round us....

I can't complain though, I'll have four solo gigs out of it between Friday and Monday. Usually I do five gigs (solo and duo combined) per month ...

I know. It's ridiculous and I feel a bit dirty cashing in on it but I could clear $5-600 in just three days this year

"Thousands are sailing" was on the radio this morning on my way to work. Made a very welcome change from Katey effin Perry.

The long, drawn out death rattle of a man suffering from terminal flatulence would make a very welcome change from Katy effin Perry

Re: WTF in America
Talking about the St Patricks thing, what is with GREEN beer?? I am half Irish (in the proper sense, not the American sense) and have yet to receive a green beer in any pub I have been to over there? It also seems to be a very big deal here compared to other places I have lived? Another corporately induced "holiday" cash cow?
