The younger generation rent Bobcats. Shovels today are only used for scooping up dog turds

If they are going to go mechanical for digging holes then someone should tell them that they need a swing shovel (excavator, digger), not a Bobcat!!!

The Bobcat is for when you need to dig a hole, but you can't even...

I suppose you can at least roll 'em around with it.

Er Bobcat does more than just skid steers and track steers.

I am older than you and looking forward to setting fence posts with a manual post hole digger this weekend. .... IMO sitting on your ärse is overrated.

Don't taint all of us youngsters with the afraid of hard work brush!

My girlfriend and I are very frugal and tight with spending money. In fact, we are so tight, instead of buying an electric lawn mower, we bought a 1960's hand push mower and a sharpening tool all for $30. I prefer the workout it gives me and it's cheaper (it scares the dog too, which makes mowing entertaining). It's also easier to maintain and fix if something goes wrong unlike an electric mower.

I like hard work - makes for a more satisfied feeling.

It's all good if that's what you like. Our house is pretty low maintenance, since we've only a quarter-acre lot that needs very little else other than cutting the grass and raking leaves, so we're lucky.

I mean, I can do the work if I have to but it's certainly not something I look forward to either. I'd much rather spend a Saturday watching the match. Simple pleasures

This is Murica!

Mowing about 1.5 acres with a walk-behind is a bit much, so I have one of these:

I did try buying a Flymo a few years back (had a steep grassed bank and was thinking I could chuck the flymo on a rope and swing it). But apparently flying lawnmowers aren't a thing here.
