However, I'll bet Hartford University student services has some kind of procedure for changing roommates? Without the requirement to stick her toothbrush up your **s?

Re: WTF in America
I have discussed that with Mrs P, but apparently typically "roommates" each have their own room with a shared bathroom and kitchen, they aren't "roommates" as we understand that word in the UK. Or so Mrs P says.

Later, she moved into a 4-bedroom apartment where she had her own room but shared a bathroom, living room and kitchen.
She never really got on with ANY of her roommates.

Re: WTF in America
When I was at uni in Colorado, it was nearly all 2-person rooms. The whole floor of the dorm (maybe 40 rooms) shared the two bathrooms (one male and one female). Most dorms were the same, but there were a few places that had a lot of singles and triples.

Re: WTF in America
I have a feeling that the traditional roommate situation, literally sharing a bedroom with someone else, predominated in former times because it made illicit sex (m/f) much harder to arrange. That's no longer an issue, colleges don't police those relationships these days. So the single room, "suite" situation that you describe is common in newer dorms....

I think I missed the small print in BA's T&C's warning that transatlantic flights propel you into an alternate universe.

The very fact that you don't find this weird is a whole helluva lot of WTF-ery in my book. Really? You don't think it's bizarre that it is "a thing" that a K-12 school sells bullet-proof panels on its own website, for parents to buy for their kids' backpacks? Seriously, that is a very sad indictment indeed of American society.

I would also want my kids to ride in school buses with seat belts. However that's a foreign idea in the US. I would also like a seat belt when riding on a tour bus.
