It transpired that my grandfather, who died before I was born was also ginger haired

There was a similar shooting/killing in Charlotte, NC at the end of 2013. The case will go to trial in July. The charge of "voluntary manslaughter" has a maximum penalty of (only) five years. ..... IIRC two officers already had the "situation" under control, the situation actually being a car break down where the driver had knocked on the front door of a nearby house to ask for assistance, when this idiot cop races up, pulls his gun and fires, hitting the victim with 10 of 12 shots. Even a fellow officer at the scene was reported to have exclaimed something like "WTF?"
