It's clearly a focus group inspired move. I can picture the scene, age groups 30-39 in the south don't like that you are Canadian, these people also tend to like country music so we suggest...

The bodies of two of four children apparently living in a home in Detroit were found in the freezer in the home! The story is still not complete, but the mother is being questioned by police. The two surviving, older, children have been taken into protective custody. ..... The two children in the freezer were a girl of 14 and a boy of 11, so this far from the usual "children's bodies in the attic" story where the children are typically new borns or infants.

GOP aghast at Klingenschmitt's act-of-God comment in baby's death - Boulder Daily Camera

I was in Boulder last week when this happened and everyone was aghast. Longmont has a reputation for domestic violence and some weird sh*t but even this was beyond comprehension. And now this nut job is calling it an act of God because America allows abortions.

WTF? Have these religious nut jobs become more extreme?

No, they've always been this extreme. The problem is, they're more vocal and nobody seems to be standing up to them in any way. For some reason you can say whatever the fluck you want and if it's done under the banner of religion, you're untouchable.

****ing sickening. If the god squad want to use their bronze age mythology to affect the lives of others through policy making, then churches should pay taxes. Backdated taxes at that.

Speaking of which, you'll love this one. Arizona nutjob says going to church should be mandatory as it will cut gun crime.

You have rather taken that out of context, the context of the next sentence.

".... "But since that would not be allowed and we would not even be debating that, .... "

It was more in the nature of "thinking out loud" more than promulgating a new law.

What the hell is she on?

When 0.2% (or perhaps even slightly less) of the prison population in the USA are atheists, maybe she might want to start looking elsewhere to apportion the blame ...

What I came on here to post pales into insignificance compared to the previous couple, but seeing as how I'm here.....Why do I have to see adverts for self inserted catheters while I'm eating my cornflakes on a morning? Its right up there with my previous gripe about painful sex after menopause. I mean, who is watching these things and thinking - ooh, must add some catheters to the grocery list - think I'll try that brand I saw on the telly, I wonder what aisle they're on

Yeah if you want to put it like that. To me it seems like she is very frustrated by that pesky First Amendment. It's that rather than the fact it's a completely mental idea otherwise she'd totally be up for making church mandatory.

That's like leading a horse to water and trying to make it drink.

You're the one that multitasks by having your breakfast on the bog while also posting on BE right? Must be very disconcerting for you.

I'm still shocked that she would "think out loud" about something that she knows is always going to be illegal in an official committee meeting like that. In a general gathering it would be expected to be pandering with those kinds of things, but during government business it is out of line.
