I watched Case Histories on the PBS website last night (no adverts
) , very enjoyable, thought it was really well done, it's a long time since I watched something for 1.40 without getting fidgety and doing something else at the same time.
I've still got the last Person of Interest to watch, still unsure on it at the moment.

And I, too, liked being able to watch Case Histories with no interruptions. That probably helped make it so enjoyable!

Has anybody seen Mildred Pierce? Or maybe it's Mildred Price?
It's being advertised on Sky over here at the moment but apparently will be aired in November.

However, have heard some folks say it was very good. It was on a channel we don't get, so we haven't seen it. Depending on further reviews, we might see if Netflix has it.

It was pretty good, but the daughter was just soooo annoying and it got silly in places, but it's worth a punt as it gets a bit more interesting after the slow start.

Can't stand Claire Danes in this role...she's too lightweight. Totally implausible IMO. How old was she supposed to be when she was arrested in Afghanistan? In the first episode...she (a blue eyed blonde) gets out of her car and walks down the road when there is trouble ahead. Then manages to smuggle herself into a prison. She would stand out like a sore thumb in Afghanistan.
I'd have had Mary Lynn Rajskub play the part as Chloe. would be a nice continuation of the "24" universe, plus she does grumpy really well.

And then there was her supposed guilt over missing clues before 9/11. Give me a break. She'd have been in her early 20's at the most.

I was rather hoping Mandy Patinkin would thump her in the face last night.

I was ill with a stomach bug on Friday so -based on this recommendation - I thought I would check out the first series on Netflix. I ended up watching 6 episodes back to back - it was that good. Best series I have seen since Game of Thrones and i'm now into the second season. U.S TV is now forgiven for the cardinal sin of producing Glee.
EDIT - Health warning though - it takes gore to a whole new level!

So how's everyone liking the Walking Dead and Dexter this time around?
A few weeks in for a bunch of shows and I'm still watching Homeland, Revenge and Ringer.
Homeland is a bit shit though, very twee and dull.
Revenge is just dumb, fun, but how thick are those people not to recognise her? Lucky she's minted and good with computers with a uber hacker computer geek friend and no one notices everyone in the same circle having a bad run of luck.
Ringer, overly stupid, how do these people not know she is the twin, no one is that much of the same, especially the character and it's not like they were close sisters.
Nikita, also rather dumb, but I'm liking the change in direction all the same.
Person of Interest is a little soft, but I'm liking it the most of the new run of shows and hoping the back story gets a bit more interesting.
5-0 is just getting too cheesy and a little annoyingly shit.
Harry's Law, not liking this series very much, but since they finished the big long opening case and back to shorter ones, it's become much better, but still not nearly as fun as the first series and not nearly as light hearted either.
American Horrow Show, still undecided, I kind of like it, but I really can't see how a long series will work, never mind having more than one run.
Once Upon a Time, not seen it yet, but hoping it's god, sounds pretty amusing, that and Grimm, so can't wait for that either.

Apparently for Walking Dead season 2 there were a fair few personnel changes on the writing team so there were worries about what the quality would be like this time around. I watched the first episode on Saturday and felt it was an improvement if anything - the reason for that being that they seem to have got better at building tension so you are on the edge of your seat wondering whether a pack of zombies will be round the next corner. I think the fact that it is based on a decent comic book series probably helps to stop the series going too far off the rails.
My only complaint is that that if you pause the footage and look at some of the herds of zombies you see a fair few at the back which look less like the undead and more like drunken revellers on the way back from the club after a night out in Nottingham city centre. Guess that was just a bit of cost-cutting in the make-up department.

Dexter...I think they are running out of ideas. IMO the last series and this aren't a patch on the first few.
Homeland...it's not brilliant but better than most programs out there. Claire Danes annoys the crap out of me. Why oh why do the have to put the token young female in these sort of programs...Eddie Bauer would have been much better.

Revenge...totally implausible but watchable.
Ringer...watched the first episode and I struggled to watch the second. Cannot bring myself to watch any more.
Pan Am...watched the first episode only. Thought the spy plot was silly.

The Walking Dead is far and away my favourite just now. I'm also liking Revenge a lot too, along with The Good Wife and Person of Interest.

well stop pausing the footage then

I never seem to be home on the nights it's on, but every time I do catch it, I enjoy it

Just finished watching the last of Strike Back...and yeah, bit meh this series.
The first series was a lot of silly fun but this time, it got US backing and shown over here, don't know how that works with them not showing the first series, but anyway, so it had a US character in it, which didn't make any sense to the story line, but he was good though.
The back story in this just dragged on a little to much and a little too predictable which was the last half of the show really, as the first half kind of had one off story events that tied it all together.
Worth a watch though.
So "Once Upon a Time"
Saw it...daft, but fun, fairy tale characters hitting the real world...so very silly basis, but that's okay, it was fun....lot of recognisable faces though, and it had to be based in Maine...little unbelievable that the person was able to drive from Boston to way up in Maine in no time at all, but ain't tele always like that
