the Scottish independence issue

Re: the Scottish independence issue
Im scottish and its been interesting reading through the posts.Firstly the visas to travel USA ,not really top of the independence agenda.1000s of yanks holiday in Scotland for golf and tracing roots. Also Scotland is an oil producing country ,USA needs oil so cant see problems there. The point being missed here is the UK political system is broken ,its not working ,at least for Scotland .In the London parliment we have a tory government lead by Eton schoolboys whom were NOT voted for by the people of Scotland and never are !The scottish government are doing a much better job of it.Independence will have its problems but its the only way forward, staying within the union means years of cuts and stagnation and we already have the t-shirt!

That's what my Scottish friend says. He is very pro-independence, pro-SNP, despite being rather worried about the economy side of things. To paraphrase him, Scotland may fall on its face or end up in a worse state, but at least it would be their problem and they would no longer be able to "blame the English". He thinks that independence will force Scotland to grow up.

True, London was chosen as the seat of government, but they had due representation in the House of Commons and House of Lords. Presumably civil service, parliament, government have always had their fair share of Scottish people at all levels. We know that Scottish people have served at the highest levels in the Empire (India, Canada etc.), the armed services, the professions, academia.

What exactly is the problem, according to the Scotch or Scots? Scotland freely decided on Union with England in the early eighteenth century. To a large extent, it was a union of equals, unlike Wales and Ireland that were basically raped, pillaged and absorbed.

Not that I'm a hopscot expert, but don't the English ones have the 3 on the left? It's probably easier that way. Yet another way the English have screwed over the Scots...introducing cack handed hopscots in the kindergarten playground is an excellent start on a life of whining "it's not fair".....and "blame it on the English"
