Some of the 747's do look a little tired inside. The best seats to try and grab are the 2 rows of 2 at the back. They tend to offer just a little more room. I flew AA once and found their leg room good. It was not after they took out a row of seats to offer more leg room. Maybe they've put them back in LOL. Virgin were the worst for me. I expected the 340-600 to have to new of room as the thing is huge. Nope LOL.

BA are refitting 18 of their 747s to extend their lives until replacements eventually arrive.

The -800 really is a beautiful aircraft. The 747 reached perfection with that variant, IMO.

Sorry - read the thread out-of-order. Multi-tasking's never a good idea. :o

I suspect that there should be a "," after the "2". Otherwise it would be remarkable only for the fact Mr Meredith took no other photos of it at Mach 2.

Perhaps Mr Meredith was using a large format camera and he only had one exposure plate.

Nice photo.

Should have taken a flight on it when I had the chance.

I would have settled on being able to go on it on the ground... But it never served the airports I worked at and well we wouldn't have the ground contract anyhow, so still wouldn't have been allowed on.

We did get DC-10's, 747's and 777's on BA which never looked right in such as small airport...But we didn't have the contract in SAN for BA, but we did at the time in Phoenix, but I didn't like the hours that contract had, so never worked it

Looking back 2,500 to 5,000 was a pretty good deal for Concorde, but eh even with the agreement when your company was paying 6.94/hr was not exactly small change either.....
