Without knowing which planes are being retired from which routes, and where the new planes are being deployed, it's all rather dry. :(

Here, or the WTF thread?

Looks like it was the pilot's lucky day, because he made a "good" landing, as per the old pilot's adage, unfortunately not a "great" one. :(

Yep, any landing you can walk away from.... driver was very lucky

I can't watch it with the sound up here, but presumably the plane was crashing no matter what he did. Looks like he did the best he could under the circumstances.

He does owe that driver a new pair of underwear, though

It's been fairly well publicized that the US has been flying A-10 Warthogs and B-52's against ISIS. Now it's reported they're flying OV-10 Broncos against ISIS too. So we're employing all the latest technology!

Has America woken up to the fact that flying $150million dollar planes against AK-47-toting thugs perhaps isn't the best use of capital, nor even very effective when you're trying to engage stationary or very slow moving ground targets with a potentially supersonic jet fighter.

I can't help but notice that the AH-64 Apaches seem conspicuous by their absence over Iraq and Syria.

Anybody else catch the farewell flight of the mighty Sea King today?

http://www.itv.com/news/westcountry/2016-03-21/in-pictures-sea-king-helicopters-in-final-fly-past-over-the-south-west/

It would appear that the lady from Salisbury actually spotted a Merlin Mk3 directly over her head and not a Sea King!

Re: Planespotting

That is true. Boeing just specifically mentions pricing pressures from Airbus.

the company needed to drastically reduce costs — and thus airplane pricing — because of fierce sales competition from Airbus.

“They are attacking us with price in every single campaign. And as a result of that, you know, we’re being pushed to the wall.”

He said that Airbus winning 63 percent of single-aisle sales last year with its A320 jets going against Boeing’s 737 jets was “alarming … because the 737 is the biggest contributor to the earnings of the Boeing Company.”

These cuts seem more to do with Airbus then they do with typical down turn. Boeing seems to currently be unable to compete on price with Airbus especially in narrowbody where both companies planes are pretty much equal.

I do like a neatly stacked hanger. Planes at work all tucked up and ready for bed!
