I saw a Vulcan at several air displays, mostly in the 1980's. It was a sight to see, as well as to hear/feel. The only plane I have every seen with the aura of the Vulcan is the B2, yet the Vulcan pre-dated the B2 by 30 years.

An utterly beautiful aircraft

I never had the chance to work on them while in the RAF, just boring old Nimrods for me

There is a static display one at Coventry airport that you can look around on certain days, the cockpit was soooo small i'm 6'4 and ahem slightly lardy, couldn't get my fat arse in the pilots seat!

Graceful, but I find the sinister quality of the Vulcan and the B2 more captivating.

The Russians are preparing a criminal investigation for "violation of the rules and failing to prepare for them". ..... Did it run out of fuel, so soon after takeoff, or was a door or cover not secured. It seems very early to reach that conclusion.

I had a fuel leak once on a flight I was working while at the gate still, had to pull out the kitty litter to block the storm drain, big penalty if you have a leak and allow the fuel to get into the storm drain which drains into the harbor.

A few hydraulic leaks as well but all on the ground.

Never anything serious that involved passengers thankfully.

Possible bomb in the Egypt accident? Appears there was no call from the pilots, and the debris is spread over 20km area suggesting it broke up in flight.

Bomb could have downed Russian plane that crashed in Sinai desert, killing 224 people: Egyptian official | National Post

So who would want to place a bomb on a Russian aircraft? Perhaps Syrians irritated at Russian intervention in support of Assad?

They are also considering a rear pressurized bulkhead rupture, similar to that Japanese 747 a good few years ago. Apparently in 2001 when the aircraft was owned by MEA the tail got smacked into the runway during a landing and the aircraft had to have repairs.

The CAA is reportedly investigating whether the Vulcan made unauthorized aerobatic maneuvers during one of its final flights. ...... They were pretty spectacular though.

A fine, which could potentially shut down the Vulcan trust I guess.

It appears I was right.

US/UK intelligence reports say it was an ISIL bomb.
