Could have been way worse had you NOT done anything  This is why I try and stay alert of whats going on around me - even if that means wearing earbuds without playing music. I'm always amazed when I see people on beautiful hiking trails wearing earbuds and listening to music. It's great to listen to the various sounds of nature. Mind you .... this brings me to my real pet peeve, and that is, people who now play music, watch videos or play games on their phone WITHOUT earbuds. I don't what to listen to YOUR entertainment, sorry! Happens a lot on planes. And in restaurants ... parents stick an iPhone in the hands of the kids, which is fair enough, but make the kid use earbuds ... don't impose that noise on me! Games are the worst ... stupid noises. .. |

Re: Pet Peeves?
I'm peeved today, so here I am. Different sized wall adapter plug thingamajigs!!! I just bought a new floor lamp and the whatsit covers 2 plug holes if I put it in the top do-dad, but if I put it in the bottom it makes no difference, the square Alexa plug still won't fit and the sofa recliner plug is a jaunty 45° angle so no go there either. I have 4 bloody sockets within easy reach and can only use 2 regardless of how I plug my stuff in :frown:

Why would you wear earbuds without playing music? Waiting for a phone call?
To clarify, I do listen happily to music on the train, I do not on the subway unless the car is empty & its the middle of the day. |

Are these wall sockets or extension ones? as you can get bendy/movable extension blocks specifically to get around bad plug designs!

Wall sockets, yep will probably need to go the extension route, but why can't they just make them all one size, or at least a size that doesn't cover more that one outlet. The jaunty 45° one makes me want to punch someone.
Behind our main TV here, I bought a power bar/strip/whatever that allows you to rotate the outlet to connect weird shaped plugs. some take a bit of a shove but it gets the job done too for about $12 from Target. |

Then again, I'm just walking around town and in forest preserve trails, nothing fancy  |
Re: Pet Peeves?
Bears are a risk in many places I hike, so awareness of nearby noises is essential. Still never seen one though. Cyclists are are more likely risk though, they'll take you down if you can't hear them coming.

I agree ^^ If its for a work-out, it can psyche you to go that little bit harder too. If I'm running (not hiking), Pendulum usually gets the job done.
Truthfully, I'm just too lazy to set up playlists. |
