Have you asked them about other options? - it might be possible to avoid the charge by linking the savings account to your other accounts if you have current, deposit, investment and/or loan accounts.

I hate bank fees, and generally no way around them if one doesn't have high income.

Only way at our bank to avoid the monthly fee is to maintain 1,000 in the account at all times.

No monthly fee for savings though, but they do charge $5 per withdrawal from savings accounts..

It was a linked savings account supposedly, it is now closed. I have kept my checking account with them. I may close that in the future because the $5000 remote deposit limit is annoying.

WF wanted $3500 in a savings account paying 0.01% interest. Plus $5000 or $10000 in the checking account. All fees are per account, not the complete relationship, so even though there was over $20k in the checking account they charged me a $12 fee. I don't get free checks or anything else with the account

Insanity.

I think our interest rate is 0.60%, it's what they call high interest account.
