Bear in mind that this isn't on my own programmes etc.. it's interweb stuff.

So if you are referring to, as an example, this "BE" website (and the spellchecker built in to the message entry box), then you are at the mercy of either the website designer, or, the toolset chosen by that designer for its forum function. In this case, the tool is vbulletin,

Right-click on a 'flagged' word, and check out the various options ...

" this conversation is being recorded for quality assurance purposes "

We all know it is recorded so that the company you are dealing with can use the recording against you if need be. Obviously no company is going to say that so just say the convo is recorded , instead of adding the BS about quality assurance.

It's also recorded so the company can discipline / fire its own employees. My last employer operated a call center and would investigate any complaint from a client, resulting in 'actions' against the call center employees. I guess you could call that 'quality assurance' :)

Good point; didn't consider that.

"Please listen carefully as our options have changed"

No they haven't they're the same every bloody time, they just want first time callers to listen to all the options so they have the best chance of making the best choice.

"New Road Layout ahead"

They still have one of those up in my hometown in the UK from when they added a mini roundabout and speed bumps back in, maybe 1988-90:rofl:

When the person dealing with a customer complaint recycles your point back to you.

"I would like to complain that the delivery was late and in fact the product was the wrong one in any case."

"I'll look into that sir. May I put you on hold?"

"Oh I see what happened sir, our delivery driver ran behind and therefore arrived late, and it seems he delivered the wrong product to you in error. Yes that's what happened.

Is there anything else I can help you with?"

Pet Peeve - people driving Volvos and Mercedes who turn on their rear 'fog light' (bright red light) in normal nightime driving conditions ... Possibly other cars too; seems to be a feature of European cars.

Are you talking about in the US? That used to be a pet peeve of mine in the UK, but I've never seen cars with rear fogs here. I do have an intense dislike of the rear lights on cars here....wish they'd drop this brake light/indicator combo and go to a more easily distinguishable, separate and preferably different colored indicator...

A few brands imported in relatively small numbers have the "European" light clusters with a high intensity rear fog light. I rarely see them used, and I was only aware that Jaguars have them. It doesn't surprise me that Volvo would too, but I am more surprised to hear that Mercedes do, and I have never seen a Mercedes in the US with them turned on.

I had them on my last 4 UK cars, and I used them, but only in fog, on my last car, once you had switched them on they remained on until you switched them off OR until you switched the ignition off, then when you started up again they didn't come on, saved you driving one day with them on, and then driving the next day, when they weren't needed, with them still on.

I've sadly been doing a lot of nighttime driving recently - 50 miles every night on crowded freeways. I can't say for sure if it is on Mercs; now you mention it, maybe I've seen it on a Jag. Volvos for sure. I'll pay more attention going forward :) . Obviously, the driver is under the mistaken notion that it's safer.

On cars with these rear red fog lights, are they wired into the same switch that controls front 'fog lights'? These days, just about any half-decent car comes with front fogs, and a lot of folks use them as a fashion statement. I'm not so bothered by them, but if the same switch controls the rear, then any twit who wants to look 'cool' with their front fogs is also inadvertently confusing everyone behind!
