Re: Pet Peeves?
I showed it to my (just finished) 6th grader...he claimed to have no idea till his just- finished 2nd grade sister reminded him that I'd shown it as a way of squaring off the footings on a playhouse we were building. I wasn't surprised that my eldest had forgotten, but I was amazed his sister remembered...she was probably in pre-K when we were doing it, and I hadn't even realized she was listenting!!! Scary good memory on her....

Re: Pet Peeves?
Far too many foods say to "keep refrigerated" but don't give a timescale for how long they will last in the fridge. If they need to be refrigerated then that implies that the bacteria growth in them needs to be slowed down. Unless they just mean "tastes better when cold".
Worst offender is salsa - how long is it meant to last? It is sometimes a few months between opening the jar and eventually remembering to buy the tortilla chips to eat it with. Mustards have been in there for years! |

I used to keep bottled salsa until stuff started growing on it - then I would throw it away. Now I finish off an opened jar whenever I make soup or pasta sauce - jazzes it up nicely.

Re: Pet Peeves?
My d@mned Android phone, not content with "correcting" my spelling into completely different words from the one I wanted, it also has the even more irritating habit of adding other words completely. So to anyone that has read something I've posted, and wondered what a word is doing, completely out of context, I say "It's not me, it's my phone!". :frown:

If we were meant to add letters together, no one would have invented numbers. |

And retzie is right, actually. The limit as x tends to 8 can't be infinity, as x will never reach 8. It should say that the limit tends to infinity (as you add more 9s onto 7.9999999..., you add more zeros on to the number that (1/x-8) becomes). This will also be a negative number as x is always less than 8. Plus, if x ever equalled 8, you'd end up with 1/0, which can't be calculated. |

That just means limit.

Other than that, it can be graphed quite easily substituting for x. I like that kind of stuff :o |
