Could be Lutherans.

Ah - is that what it is! Germans are weird when it comes to shop opening hours...

I could quite happily live without Sunday shopping, but Saturday afternoon is pushing it a bit.

Well put and I agree 100%.

Whilst the former is indeed correct, the latter is somewhat dodgy......... always check your sources as I refuse to be held liable for any nonsense that may spout forth from my keyboard and which is disseminated via this hallowed forum.

The figurative sometimes conquers the literal
in matters of faith and the heart.

A thing of beauty is a joy for ever:
Its loveliness increases; it will never
Pass into nothingness; but still will keep
A bower quiet for us, and a sleep
Full of sweet dreams, and health, and quiet breathing.

What I would like to know is why don't all Methodists go to the United Methodist church? And even if they do or don't they can't be that united, can they?

Californian congressman Bob Dornan: "Don't use the word 'gay' unless it's an acronym for 'Got Aids Yet'"

James Watt, Secretary of the Interior during the Reagan administration and responsible for National Policy regarding the Environment: "We don't have to protect the environment. The Second Coming is at hand."
I'm late to this thread - but if I search for that supposed quote by Bush, all I get is a bunch of religious and atheist organizations - no mainstream media at all.

Snopes didn't have an answer, but an mildly interesting discussion

I personally doubt he ever said that - if he had, at a press conference, it sure would have been reported somewhere other than a few religious or atheist websites.

If you have any reputable links I haven't found, I may take it back

I'll rant - every time I forget, and go shopping on sunday morning for groceries, it seems I need a bottle of wine (for something I'm cooking usually, not to finish before noon). And then, grrr, they can't sell the liquor before 12.

Rant.. rant.. rant...

The largest mall in NJ is in Bergen county. Shops aren't allowed to open on Sundays in Bergen county. All car dealerships/car sales lots are closed on Sunday throughout NJ. Always thought this was strange...surely Sunday would be one of the busiest days.
