Americans and fish

Re: Americans and fish
Well round these parts its fish, fish and more fish. Its reasonable price here, I've never had as much salmon in my life as here as its a good price
If you are looking for 'British' fish ie cod etc, can't get it or expensive. But tilapia I find cooks quite like haddock (never heard of that fish until living here!) and is as cheap as chips
And I say all the time does it smell fishy as I know its not fresh if it does.

Pollocks not too bad either but not as "meaty" as cod. Cods expensive anywhere these days as its so depleted worldwide

Know about cod, I personally don't like it in fish and chips, I like haddock, which is probably not much better re depleted stocks worldwide

I love haddock too and I really miss proper smoked haddock poached in milk and butter. The only place I can get it in CT is a really high end supermarlket it costs a kings ransom is special order and is far too salty. Imported from somewhere in canada. Dont suppose they have kippers in Seattle do they?

Oh I love smoked poached haddock. Used to make it often back home.
Pity I can't get it here.
IB, farmed salmon is chockablock full of chemicals. Better to go and do some fishing yourself in those waters of yours

I don't like them obviously as much as you, as my heart wouldn't break if I couldn't get them (haven't had them for a while)

Well okay my hearts not broken but I am certainly jealous. I shall have to force OH to take another trip to WA and tag along this time around. Pike market you say?
