Is someone suggesting that people who don't know Obama was born in the US shouldn't be able to vote?? I guess I must have missed that post.

Our resident Roman warrior would be much better off if he could find someone who is making the points that he is attempting to rebut.

I never said that idiots shouldn't be able to vote. I'm merely pointing out that many of them find the GOP to be quite appealing.

Nope, it was a comment on the quality of our electorate and suggesting we get the government we deserve. I am pessimistic, but it is for others to conclude whether or not the country is circling the drain.

At the next debate, Trump should be asked (i) whether Obama is muslim; and (ii) whether he's a natural born citizen.

The Republicans are digging a hole for themselves on this, because their candidates are too timid to come out and correct this crap because so many of their constituents falsely believe that Obama is both a muslim and a non-American.

And, of course, Obama's religion is irrelevant anyway.

Calling Obama a "Muslim" is just a way of calling him a "nigger," which is something that they would love to do if they could get away with it. Bigots love to share their views with the world.

The ironic thing is that if Obama was a Muslim then he'd be a lot closer politically to the people that hate him. Gay rights and women's rights are not generally considered to be Muslim principles, yet they are the two biggest sticking points for Republicans right now.

Add to that how he eats ham and drinks beer, well it's all part of his undercover religion.

I agree. The whole "birther/Muslim" nonsense is just coded racism that attempts to delegitimise the president. It's quite depressing that so many people buy into it.

On the topic of idiots, apparently one of the most googled questions about Jeb during the debate was, "Is he related to George W?" What kind of stones do these people live under . . .

I would expect Jeb's team have been working hard to try and bury that information themselves.

I'm impressed that we can live in a country with 310 million people, and the GOP contenders for president include a failed CEO who is running on her track record, the brother of a failed president who is running on his brother's track record, a reality TV host, and a Canadian Hispanic who wants to deport Latino immigrants. It must be tough to find good help these days.

You also have to consider why some of contenders don't have a chance:

Christie for once hugging a black man.
Paul and Kasich for being reluctant to bomb brown people.
