I actually don't know. Good question. I may need a Biff Tannen T-Shirt now though.

America wanted a change, so elected a rich white man as president.
Anyone got an economy I could borrow, my last two were broken by people scared of immigrants.

Well, at least now with the Republicans in charge they can't complain about being blocked - they will have full responsibility for screwing up the economy and starting wars.

But so what? First, as Pulaski mentions, it should create a buying opportunity for the portion of the accounts in cash or other cash-like funds. Presumably no sensible person at or near retirement keeps all their retirement savings in equity funds!

Secondly, the IRS is pretty generous about when you have to take income from retirement funds. Required minimum distribution starts at age 70, and the first year's RMD is set at about 3%. I'm 66, so who knows how many ups and downs will occur in markets over the next few years.
Well I'm very pleased to note the Dow is UP right now, at 18,381.

I can't log in to the Schwab site to verify my own portfolio, which is something of an ominous sign, but - so far so good. UPDATE - just got logged in, balance so far unchanged.

I'm horrified at the thought of a Trump presidency for so many reasons, but as I've noted before a number of times, the impact of the presidency on me personally has been very minor over my 33 years here, so let's hope that trend continues.

My G/F has a pre-existing condition and would benefit from Obamacare provisions IF she were to be unemployed, but so far she has stayed employed. I have a hope that the 'pre-existing conditions' issue will continue to be a factor in any replacement for Obamacare that surfaces ... hope, hope ...

I woke up today wondering if last night was a bad dream, but no ... it's real.

Not I. But she called it a year or more ago - I remember her saying 'Democrat fatigue' or something; how unlikely it is for the Dems to get a 3rd run at the presidency.

Is the DNC going to learn from this, then? Are they going to learn from the fact that it wasn't third parties who cost the Democrats the election, but their pig-headed determination to nominate Clinton at all costs while systematically ignoring Sanders?

I'm not sure, but I hope so, if they ever want to have a chance of reclaiming the White House in 4 years.

I've already heard Michelle Obama as a possible candidate for 2020 Is the Dem bench really that week?
