Didn't Trump once say that if he obtained the required number of delegates but was denied the nomination that "violence might follow" ?

I will say however that the anti-Trump demonstrators in San Jose waving Mexican flags could only help Trump in the long run

So far, only the Left engages in this crap. But at some point the worm might turn and Weimar Germany shows us what could happen next. That's the real danger of these leftist arseholes constantly goading those on the right to retaliate.
On the first point, Trumps on-stage rhetoric aside, you are right for the most part, as far as I can remember. I'm sure there have been outliers in the Trump camp but for the most part, violence is being carried out by the alt-left (I refuse to acknowledge them as the true left because that would mean I would be forced to stand 'on the same side' as them).

But irrespective of what side is doing it, it has to stop. That woman being pelted with eggs simply because of the candidate she supports? That is just ridiculous These people don't want Trump as President - well that's exactly how they'll get it. Nothing galvanises a group of people like a common enemy. Plus, if this continues, then it's only a matter of time before it escalates. Someone, and it doesn't matter which candidate they support, is going to get killed eventually, mark my words. What a stain on this already pretty murky election campaign that will be.

Christ, it didn't take long for my small moment of 'connection' to this election cycle after Sanders announced his intention to run to evaporate and be replaced with my usual jaded disillusionment. Same shit, different four years, I suppose.

You understood exactly my point. I feel bitter disappointment that my guy, L'il Marco had to drop out and you apparently feel the same way that no matter what happens in the California primary, your guy, Bernie, also won't make it. At least one poll says Marco would have been 10 points up on Hillary at this time, whereas she and The Donald are in a dead heat. But we'll live on, regardless.

The thing I fear about the election - as an attorney - is that we will probably get another 3 or 4 liberals appointed to the Supreme Court in Hillary's term(s) and it will be packed for a generation as completely as the Venezuelan Supreme Court, i.e. anything and everything a liberal majority passes as legislation will be rubber-stamped by SCOTUS and the Constitution will be a dead letter.

My view is that these ugly street mobs, with scenes of beating people in wheelchairs, throwing eggs at a woman trapped against a door that security wouldn't promptly open for her, waving Mexican flags and burning American flags is not advancing anything, especially any support whatsoever for amnesty. They are playing exactly into Trump's hands. If he wins, they may as well pack their stuff and deport themselves, because as of now he will absolutely muster the necessary resources to rid the country of them if he becomes President. A good conspiracy theorist would allege (wait for it on this thread) that Trump has secretly been paying for these rent-a-mobs.

It's not even Sanders' elimination that is disappointing me as much as it is the behaviour of his supporters. I'm not her biggest fan, but as a Democrat (somewhat), I will accept Clinton as the nomination when that happens. A lot of Sanders' supporters though are not Democrats; a lot of them are at voting age during a Presidential election cycle for the first time and they feel no loyalty to the Democratic Party, as independents. It's doubtful that many of them will vote for Clinton, or even vote at all come the general. As Trump continues to poll stronger against Clinton, it makes it not entirely unlikely that he could win in November.

I don't think there is any real danger of there being significant major changes under a Clinton Presidency though. She seems to fall between Obama and Bush II, so we'll see much of what we've already seen the last 16 years. She will keep in place what Obama has done during his two terms, and she'll certainly continue the war that Bush started during his. We're not going to see the Constitution get changed, we're not going to see anything happen to the 2nd Amendment. It'll be the same shit, different shitter IMO.

We are in agreement on the mobs and their behaviour, though. It's embarrassing that this is the face of the left that is bring presented. I want nothing at all to do with that.

Oh yes, and now about womens' rights ... I think I'd prefer Hillary's stance in that arena.

Oh, and how about guns ... an area where 'less is more' for sure.

I mean, one could create a very long list but above are just a few items ...

ETA: Supreme Court nominations ...
So you don't actually know any of her policies, just general stuff you're hoping she'll do?

Dems like you do make me laugh, no different to your UK counterparts. "Me dad was Labour so I vote Labour"

I know he's actually quite pragmatic on a number of issues, something he gets scant credit for as everyone desperately tries to outdo eachother in their faux outrage at him

I know he'd nominate a conservative judge to the Supreme Court which would completely halt any further erosion of the constitution and put a stop to the federal government telling states what to do, neutral gender bathrooms being the latest of which. It should be up to those states if they want to make public bathrooms gender neutral, not liberals in Washington

The wall would happen - legislation was passed for it ages ago. Border control have just endorsed him, first time in their history. Just because it offends presumably white middle class immigrants like you, doesn't mean it's not a good idea

He'd scrap the Affordable Care Act and make insurance affordable again for those who aren't fortunate enough to be on a work related scheme, he'd increase competition by removing state lines for insurance providers

He'd attempt to build relations with historic enemies - Russia being one of them

He'd probably not take us into anymore illegal wars

Melania Trump would be the sexist first woman in history

The violence at Trump's rallies are a direct result of Trump's tactics and behaviors. Those protesters aren't out there because they love Hillary and Bernie. They're out there because they hate Trump. They hate him for his racist remarks and unrelenting hate speech. They probably don't even vote. The thoughtful ones will become politically engaged and the agitators will live to agitate another day.

The reason you don't see these kinds of protests at the Hillary and Bernie rallies is because those two haven't continually threatened and insulted large swaths of people --- not because Trump supporters are somehow superior human beings, ffs.

Lol. Like many of your ilk, you scream "state's rights" when it suits you, but are against it when it doesn't. And, anyway, studies have found that removing state lines is unlikely to make much difference. For example:

"In 2012, Ms. Corlette and co-authors completed a study of a number of states that passed laws to allow out-of-state insurance sales. Not a single out-of-state insurer had taken them up on the offer."

and

"There’s a part of the health insurance market where regulations are largely identical around the country: the one for private Medicare Advantage plans. If uniform rules alone could ensure a broad array of competitors, you might expect to see many insurers participating. But that does not seem to be the case."

http://www.nytimes.com/2015/09/01/up...ines.html?_r=0

Of course you will likely scream "biased liberal media" and avoid explaining why it will make a difference.... Not that I disagree with the policy, but I very much doubt it will make much of a difference and certainly wouldn't be the solution Trump thinks it would be.

And pre-ACA, insurance in the private marketplace was never affordable anyway given that you could be denied coverage or become uninsurable for the audacity of becoming sick.

If a scantly clad women gets raped, is it her fault then?

You seem to be justifying the thuggish behavior of morons by blaming Trump which is self denial in the extreme

The reason you don't see violence at Dem rallies is because the cause of such violence is exclusively among the left, the pictures are pretty conclusive about that. Many of them are Sanders' supporters which the media have guilted him into apologizing for several times

Of course it will be a vast right wing conspiracy.
