2016 Election

Trump giving his pat-myself-on-the-back Winner speech now...
God that man knows how to sow seeds of mischief....
In midst of his self- congratulations - he suddenly becomes Bernie Sanders' defender - berating the press for how badly they've treated him. Said Bernie should continue running... AS AN INDEPENDENT!
That's called divide and conquer
He obviously knows whats gonna happen in the General against Hillary - when (Bernie's) Independents WILL finally be be able to vote. For her.

Sanders supporters are starting to get on my nerves. In their minds if he loses anywhere...it was fraud. Forget the fact that before the vote count fir tonight...she had 2.7 million more votes than he did. That is about 33% more votes than Sanders. Forget she had wins tonight by huge margins, over 30% in one case. What irks me most...too many of these fools say they will never vote for Clinton in the general...because they clearly prefer Adolf Trump. I also find Sanders has become just an angry old man. He will never do what Clinton did by throwing full support to Obama and urging her supporters to vote for him. But then...Sanders isn't really a Democrat...just using the Democrats for his agenda after which he will drop the Democrat lable like a hot potato.

Sanders got the first spot on the ballot for my state. Hillary snagged the # 4 spot above Roque De La Fuente and Willie Wilson, we also have Henry Hewes, Keith Judd & Michael Steinberg....
And a write in spot, maybe we can get Mickey Mouse some votes....
I am not sure what she is president of, but seems just about anyone can get onto a ballot for senate.
"President Cristina Grappo | DEMOCRATIC
My education & expertise merits this prolific occupation in order to represent California, as
United Senator. I hold a Democratic Party platform with key issues for gun control, human
trafficking, balancing the national deficit, and foreign policy initiatives. I am mainstream
Facebook in social media! My core values drive America!"
We also have this fellow:
Tim Gildersleeve | NO PARTY PREFERENCE
I am a follower of Jesus Christ.
Some interesting folks wanting to be senator...

Here's a simple question for you, why should Bernie Sanders supporters automatically vote for Hillary Clinton? If the primary reason is that Trump is worse, then what does say about the Clinton campaign? It ties into the biggest problem with Clinton's campaign, there is no clear message. A third term of Obama and a bit of incremental change here and there. It's not very inspiring is it?
Now Sanders and Trump have a similar populist message, the system is corrupt, the people are getting screwed and the rich are getting richer because they've rigged the system in their favour. Now obviously their solutions are completely different. Sanders wants to redistribute wealth back from the rich to help the poor and the middle class. Trump wants to make great deals. But it's understandable that some Sanders supporters would look at Trump and see he's going to burn the whole thing down, then maybe we could build something from the ashes. It could be appealing when you compare it Clinton's more of the same bullshit that hasn't been working for decades.
As for Clinton supporting Obama, I'm sure it's just coincidence that he made her Secretary of State. This isn't something unique to Clinton, but the difference with Sanders is, he doesn't want something for himself, rather he wants Clinton to support some of his platform.

FFS! Spare me the self righteous indignation. You talk about like this is the first US Presidential election you've experienced. Have you forgotten Clinton's PUMAs back in 08, back then there were exit polls showing that something like 40% of Clinton supporters wouldn't vote for Obama. Turns out when it came to November most of them did. Or you could go back further to 72 and the "Anyone but McGovern" movement.

So yes...anyone who would risk that, just to be cry babies and spite Clinton would be an idiot.
But..given that about 56% of the electorate voted in 2012...I suspect a lot of Sanders supporters were in the 44% who didn't. Probably why so many of them failed to properly register and then cried fraud.
As an aside....blame an obstructionist Republican Congress for the thiÃngs not accomplished in the past 7 and a half years.
Bottom line...if they would risk handing the country to Adolf Trump...then they truly do not give a fu@$ about the country. Rational people would not risk that.

Your argument would have validity if a rational Republican, even one some of whose policies one disagreed with, were poised to win the nomination. However, anyone who purely out of spite would sit out the presidential election and risk handing the oval office to a narcicistic racist who proposes ideas that violate the constitution, who has seen numerous high ranking military officers say they will resign if he is elected and who has caused members of the Joint chiefs to say they would disobey his orders that violate the law...a man who thinks Putin is a great guy and has fawned over the support of extreme leftist European politicians who share his racist positions...a man who wants mass deportations and perhaps even internment camps...who wants to bar entry to the U.S. by any muslim, citizen or not...a man whose candidacy has emboldened white supremicist groups and whose election may well cause them to believe they then have tacit approval to be jack booted thugs and engage in violent acts...oh the list is long including the potential to wreck the Supreme Court for decades.
So yes...anyone who would risk that, just to be cry babies and spite Clinton would be an idiot.

The whole idea that well it would all be fine except Trump is different from the other candidates, no really he's different. Here's the thing: the people you're talking about think Sanders is different from the normal politician as well. So yeah, I can understand them picking Trump over Clinton.
Here's an interesting thought: I keep hearing that none of Sanders's platform is realistic, no way will we get universal healthcare, no way will we get free college tuition. Yet if Trump is President he really will build a wall an make Mexico pay for it, he really will ban all Muslims, he really will deport all the illegal immigrants? Think about what happens if Trump is President. First, nothing he proposes is going to get through Congress. At the midterms, both the House and the Senate go very blue. Then in four years we actually get a real progressive President as a backlash to Trump. If it's Clinton, then it's just another four years of the same bullshit.
As for Trump fcking up the country, it's already an oligarchy, so it's pretty fcked up already.

Occasionally I drop in to take a look at the barren landscape of this thread.
Interesting debate between Zargof and Dakota44, though.
Any reaction by the über politically correct elite here to Trump's foreign policy address this afternoon?

Sounds like something people in Germany might have said in the 30's. After all..how bad could he be?
