Good question, lose track of what a Dem or Repub actually means, so many variants.

There has been a reasonably major Anti Semitism row in the Labour Party which struck me as a WTF.

Will we see you later?

I regret I am unable to accept the kind invitation of Boiler for game night this evening. Though I will be in another time zone, I will be with you in spirit.

I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it. Attributed to Voltaire. May come from a letter he wrote on 6 February 1770.

Apparently to the fascists on the Left, this sentiment does not apply to Trump and his supporters. Fortunately no one here supports their suppression of free speech and peaceable assembly, guaranteed to us by the First Amendment.

The right-wing notion that opposition to bigotry is "left-wing fascism" is utter nonsense.

For one thing, racism is anti-democratic. For another, fascism is a right-wing movement.

It's stunning how the right-wing can't put ten words together without making basic factual errors. It's not so much a political movement as it is a haven for the low IQ crowd.

They are protesting a bigot spouting facist crap and tacitly endorsing violence against those who disagree with him. Funny how if the same thing were happening in Russia or China or Iran or so many other places....your attitude towards it would do a 180.

Everybody said they were sorry you could not make it, as anticipated more drinking and eating than game playing, such is life.

Trust you enjoyed your spirit of choice.

All of the candidates get protestors. Trump chose to use his (in the beginning, a fairly small number) as a way to play badass. He taunted and threatened and made a BIG deal out of the situation. So, unless you've been living under a rock, you are aware that Americans lean toward assholery. Americans, like Trump, don't like being told what to do. Plus, like Trump, they see this as a chance to get their stupid faces on TV. Trump created this situation and now he cries foul. Too bad, so sad.

Fascism is a form of government, not a form of protest. Your sentence makes no sense. There is no government organization behind the protestors. If they behave peacefully and there are no laws being broken, I don't know what you would have us do about it, regardless of how we personally feel about their tactics. If they behave in an illegal manner, then the police definitely should act. I'm not sure why people on a discussion board, who have done no protesting or disrupting whatsoever, deserve to be constantly insulted and berated by you on this matter.

When the BLM protested Bernie, and actually shut his event down, I criticized their tactics. I didn't call for them to be killed or shot or arrested or punched in the face, but I did question how effective this was for their movement. I feel the same way when they protest Trump --- is this really helpful? I don't know the answer but, as long as their actions are nonviolent, this is part of the whole messy process and I accept it.

Finally, many of the protestors at Trump rallies are the very ones whose freedoms and liberties he has promised to take away. Apparently he's spent too much time studying Hitler in Germany (who failed, btw) and not enough time studying the events of 1765 through 1783 in the British colonies of North America.

Am I wrong when I wrote that no one here supports the suppression of free speech and peaceable assembly - in this country - that they disagree with? Or do you stand with those who want to shut down free speech?

As for China and Russia, I don't believe they have such guarantees - do you have some information to the contrary? If so, show some proof. Want to discuss Tiananmen Square? Want to reveal yourself as standing four square with the Chicoms against people asking for respect for human rights?

Otherwise, as is so often the practice of those on the Left, you are making the classic logical fallacy of arguing false equivalence, in addition to deflection, another favourite.

Free speech is fine as long as you are agreeing with me, otherwise it is hate speech and needs to be banned.

How can ou peacefully assemble to object to something I believe in.?

Good Lord. You two act as if the protestors aren't being removed and, in many cases, arrested.

Is your party this fragile? Victimology belies macho assertions.

Party?

You mean last night?

Would not call it fragile. Some do not drink.

So, you threw a party. What if some people showed up at your party and acted in a way that disrupted your plans for how the party should go? What if you asked them to leave and even had to escort them outside? Would you (a) carry on with the party and accept that sometimes people don't agree with you, even inside your own house or (b) flop around like a wounded poodle because the bad man did something you didn't like or (c) go on the internet and blame a bunch of people who had nothing to do with it?

Trump is always deliberately late ... likes to see the grubby masses get all worked up into a lather.

It's Donald's mouth. He verbally justified the beating of protesters from the start, didn't speak up against Dave Duke. Serves him right
