It's definitively the prevailing wisdom among leftists that their people for want of a better word are generally more intelligent or have a better grasp of the issues than those on the other side, this shouldn't be earth shattering news to anyone and it's arrogance personified. Socialism has deep historic ties to communism, the idea of controlling people so those at the top could cling to power is deeply ingrained in socialist theory, that's why Sanders makes such a play on being a democratic socialist. It's therefore hardly outrageous to make the correlation between socialism and communism as many Americans do - the links are there for all to see in any history book

As much as you or I disagree with the crap that Trump is spouting, it seems to me like his meetings are being gatecrashed by large groups of people attempting to disrupt him exercising his rights.

I abhor that kind of behavior, regardless if the 'side'. It disrespects the constitutional freedoms that were put in place for people of all political persuasions.
Agreed. What a mess.

There are out of pocket costs but far less then what you pay down there.

I cant comment on any province but BC. Overa I am happy with care received. But I was not insurable in the US and one medical bankruptcy was enough.

Frankly I cannot afford the US system and its costs.

We have extended medical benefits and rarely pay for anything medical related.

On the other hand, she has been treated for trigger finger by a "hand specialist" who had to stop his ministrations half way through so he could have x-rays taken of her hand to see whether her problem is complicated by arthritis. That was a couple of weeks ago. She's been in pain since, waiting for Step Two scheduled for next week, now that he has an x-ray.

By our standards - at the Philadelphia Hand Center for example - that is totally arse-backwards. You should always, always get an MRI, or at least an x-ray of the hand before poking around, trying to release the tendon sheath. I asked her husband why he doesn't change his family physician, who he is always complaining about. His response, "I can't, there are hardly any doctors here as it is. There aren't enough doctors in Canada, we can't choose."

Can't wait for BC-level care to come here to the States.

What most here don't understand is that Canada doesn't have a uniform national health system. Maybe you could explain to us why and how each Province has its own system and how people who go from, say BC or Alberta to Prince Edward Island on vacation and suddenly need care, might not have full coverage. Mention also, that although prescriptions in Canada are relatively low cost, the patient might have to pay for them out of pocket, while you're at it.

Cry me a river for Donald Trump. I thought he was a tough guy who could handle anything? He was sweating balls when that guy rushed the stage.

My opinion of the protestors: As far as I can see, they are non-violent disrupters. Donald Trump is running for president of the United States, that means representing all US citizens not just the ones he likes. If he wins, he will be accountable to these people so he better learn how to deal with them. Obama was protested relentlessly during his campaigns --- probably by the very people who now support Trump and sucker punch people who are in police custody. Trump has no room to complain, he isn't making a speech at the rotary club, he's applying for a job. He is not exempt from taking some hard hits from the citizenry. He's egged this whole thing on from jump. He's been hell bent on starting a race war and now it looks like he's going to get just that --- but he doesn't like it because it's just too difficult for his precious self.

Trump is on TV calling the protestors "disrupters" like it's a bad thing. Trump's entire campaign has been a disruption campaign.

He is also threatening to send his supporters to Bernie's rallies.

Whatever. We'll see how that works for him. He's very angry this morning.

I don't get this crap where he's talking about being treated so badly by the press. He gets 100 million times more free press than any other candidate. The cable news channels play all of his rallies pretty much in their entirety. Nobody else gets that.

It's just more of his bullshit. Of course all the cable news channels show his rallies, they want to be there when it all kicks off. It's all about ratings.

And Trump loves it. If he hadn't been on TV so much then all of those protestors wouldn't have been activated. So he can just suck it. Typical bully --- plays the victim as soon as he gets a taste of his own medicine.

This is the education they get from Trump University.

Trump doesn't know the definition either. He was calling Bernie a communist this morning. Because, yeah, one of the pillars of communism is sending protestors to a Trump rally.

If Sanders won the nomination, you can bet that Fox News and the GOP would devote more time to attacking communism than did Joe McCarthy. The GOP would love to have him as the nominee.

What's funny is that Sanders' policies would suggest that he isn't a socialist. What industries does he want to nationalize?

Therein lies the difference between pure socialism and democratic socialism. But.....Bernie did, in earlier years, believe and say the the government should own all means of production. He was also a big fan of Castro and also the Sandinistas. You are spot on that Fox and Repubs will dredge up all of that and crucify him.

"Democratic socialism" is just something that he made up.

I suppose that he doesn't want to refer to himself as a social democrat because he didn't want his previous political independence to be confused with membership in the Democratic Party.

Not really. Made up. Most of Europe and even the U.S. are Social Democracies...perhaps the term Democratic Socialism confuses some..but that is what it is often referred to as and the term has been used for decades whether it is technically accurate or not. It is in fact technically inaccurate because it means social ownership of production alongside democracy. Even more confusing.
