That was a p-o-e-m. A nice man wrote it to sum up how he felt about November. So many people felt that it res-on-a-ted with them that it has become famous and instantly recogniseable.

In your world, I'm sure November is a wonderful month, full of rose petals and fluffy bunnies. The rest of us know what he meant tho.

I know you're a man of many talents bil, but I certainly didn't think for one moment that they stretched quite that far.

In any event it still sounds like the description of November after a nuclear holocaust, possibly anywhere on the planet.

Blackberries picked here and jam made on Monday. Plenty left though:) My Mother always loved the autumn and drawing the curtains early (not for me). I think it was because they lived in the tropics for a long time. However bad the weather I am still very happy and content to be where I am taking al into consideration. Better weather would be the icing on the cake:D

It can be a depressing month, which is why Brits (I think) took so well to Bonfire Night, as it provided light, colour and warmth; then later we have the Christmas lights to counteract the gloom. However, we do sometimes have an Indian summer, but that's generally October and early November.
It's not my least favourite month - that honour goes to January - but it's certainly way down the list of favourite months.

Oh yes. I remember the deadly duo (Dick and Aggy) on here in the middle of the coldest start to winter in 50 years, and people dying who'd just stepped into the garden, trying to convince us that it was nice and comfortable.
I'm one of those who maintains that most UK winters are mild, but I don't try and pretend it's not the case when we do have a cold winter. Normally it's the short gloomy days that get people down in the UK, and many suffer from S.A.D.

Here's a reminder of last December's conditions. I hope the various councils have got their salt stocks up again, just in case.

We always try to get away in January whichever country, UK or Spain. They are both cold. El caribe for us, S, Africa would do:D Spain wouldn't be my choice for winter warmth in those houses.

Right enough, the coastal areas are a tad warmer than the UK in winter, but with houses that are ice boxes in winter and red hot radiators in mid summer, making it an endurance test according to bil, then any real advantage is lost.

Taking all factors into account, the UK with its cosy houses and much better range of attractions wins for me both mid-winter and mid summer.
On top of that the UK also had a far better Spring than Spain this year, leaving only the Autumn where Spain may have the edge, but even that awaits to be seen.

Oh by the way, strange that bil rarely mentions that his own area had even greater rainfall than Englands rainiest city a couple of years back.;) :rofl:

To be serious for anyone for whom the weather is the main priority both countries are very poor climate-wise, compared to such as the W.Canaries where it is t-shirt and shorts virtually all year round, with rarely any of the unpleasant extremes common to mainland Spain either in mid winter or mid-summer.

To put it in a nutshell it's much akin to comparing a thoroughbred racehorse to two donkeys. lol.
