Re: Time to pack?
How is it killed any different? Only 4% of all Halal meat is done by not stunning... for the rest its all done the same as any other meat you eat. The only differences are that a Muslim has to be the slaughterman who then utters thanks to Allah for providing the meat and thanking the animal for giving its life and that they are slaughtered facing Mecca... so you have such a refined palate that you can taste a prayer and a compass direction?

4% or 100% Eating halal helps promote unessasary cruelty and suffering, muslims should be dragged into the 21st century not us dragged down to their stone age level

Re: Time to pack?
So we should stop eating meat altogether, the amount of times an animal goes through the slaughterhouse and has a bad kill is too numerous to count, so why don't you attack them? Muslims are definitely not stone age dwellers, in fact in Muslim culture tolerance and kindness is displayed more often than any other religion, its just sad that a small percentage of them are involved in madness.
So come on then, you have appointed yourself as the policeman of the Spain forum, I see you running around all the threads making sarky comments and laying down your twisted logic, you tell me how on earth you can tell the difference on the basis of a prayer and a compass? Go on... tell me.

I agree with rugbymatt on this.
Halal meat is prepared by draining the blood of the animal while it is still alive (it wont flow once they are dead). This is the traditional way to kill animals all over the world and they still do it in the villages in Spain. It means the toxins flow out of the animal and makes for better meat.
I would rather that when I am in the UK, that the meat hadnt been blessed by any God though, never mind from what religion!

Well obviously, as we see Contador is in trouble for that reason
You would have noticed I said the "traditional way still used in the villages". That isnt the meat people are likely to pick up at the local mercadona

Re: Time to pack?
You miss my point. You claim not to want to touch Halal on cruelty grounds. Well Halal meat accounts for only 10% of all meat eaten in the UK, so 90% of the UK's meat (and I am referring to homegrown obviously) is slaughtered in the usual fashion, well I'm telling you now, not every single slaughterhouse is this pristine wonderful place you paint the picture of... I can give you one example down here but there is no way I want the anti meat nutjobs to jump on the bandwagon! So given that only 4% of a tiny amount of Halal meat slaughtered in the UK is done by the stun free method yet there are more than just a couple of slaughterhouses that need their staff looking at because of the cruelty they display I can only assume you condemn all slaughterhouses, I mean its only a small percentage I know but 4% or 100% its not important right?

Re: Time to pack?
I abhor cruelty to animals, but I had bacon, sausages and black pudding for breakfast this morning, so my comments have to be measured against that.
I used to drive past a slaughterhouse when I lived in London and often saw an orthodox Jew making his way there to prepare the Kosher meat.
I’ve eaten lots of it too, especially at Blooms, in Aldgate. And there’s a curry house in nearby Brick Lane that takes you straight to Pakistan – there is no other food in the world that tastes better after a few pints of Lager, especially after a hard days work and at two in the morning.
Nowadays the curry houses in Brick Lane are full of bankers on a Friday night, celebrating their week of playing with our money. But they’re conscientious people, while sinking pints of lager and stuffing themselves full of vindaloos, they still have their blackberries switched on checking on the price of oil.
