Whatever your age, you really should have some sensitivities concerning European history and the effects it's had on people's families.

You only have to look at every thread on this or any other forum, once the post count gets to above 10, then it's gonna go off topic, unless the topic is so general as for it to be almost impossible, even the Ayamonte often goes off for a bit, then gets back on track. Newsgroups are just as bad, infact, because they are mainly unmoderated, at least on Usenet, then I've unsubscribed from those I was involved in.. It's just in mans, or womans, nature to go off on a tangent.

Eh? please say that comment wasn't aimed at the Nazi comment.
This forum has rules, which you may or may not be familiar with, but notwithstanding that, society has rules. The rules are for everyone’s survival in this hectic society we’ve put together. Some are simple but well thought out, like driving on the left for the UK. Of course, every now and then there are people who cross the centre-line and run risks.
There are far more subtle and sophisticated rules in life though. Wading in and calling people Nazi is really not on. My extended family had the heart ripped out of it in WWII by the people whose name you bandy about so lightly. Moreover, walk down any High Street and you can see that name-calling is ineffective. Where exactly are your limits? Putting together a thoughtful post would have had more effect surely?
It is none of my business that you post so much per day (31.63 posts per day currently) but have you ever thought that it’s the quality of the post that counts, not the post count? I’m reminded of the Harry Enfield pub character that simply had to join in with every conversation going. Posts such as “What she saidâ€, and “Unbelievable†really add nothing useful to a thread.
I was a school governor for eight years, and in attending the regular meetings I noticed that some people very rarely contributed to the discussion, but when they did it was incisive and to the point. Watch people in everyday conversation and see whether it’s quality or quantity that matters.
In conclusion, I don’t suppose for one minute my thoughts on this will put you off your chosen rôle here. I just wish that maybe you could find the time to dwell a little of the possible effect of your words before hitting ‘Submit Reply’.

When the chips are down, people get answers on this forum ... inbetween there may be a little extraneous material but imho that makes the forum the friendly place it is. We are not in a school governors meeting here with a strict agenda ..... we have no script .... its all made up as we go along. Theres no real way of expressing emotion and from time to time people will be misunderstood, but at the end of the day people get the help they need and everyone on here is happy to help

There have been a couple of times I have overstepped the line, and I have been admonished for it, and rightly so, but where did I name call? I said I didn't agree with forum Nazis, I didn't call you a murdering Jewish hating goose stepping person, I said that I didn't agree with forum Nazis, so lets not put words or insults where they are not deserved or wanted.
I have tried to explain where and why and how, you have got upset because your thread does not go the way you wanted and for that I am sorry, not because I have been the cause of it, but because you have misunderstood the role a brilliant forum like this serves.
Look around some of the threads, show me one single thread that has stayed on track, maybe in the more serious Immigration ones yeah, but as you will also note I stay away from such places, and often stay away from many serious threads on here.
You are obviously upset by me, which is sad, because as a greater man than I recently pointed out, Its only pixels, so why don't you exercise your democratic right and put me on ignore, I wont be doing that to you and will probably contribute to other threads you have started or are on, simply because I am a fairly tolerant person.
Again, sorry if you have a problem with who I am, and please, try and explain what me posting over 30 times a day has to do with anyone else but me and possibly my bank manager?

Hey toyboy!
We've exchanged PMs and I'm sure you're a nice person - however I think you're taking everything just a little bit too seriously here
I also know that Rugbymatt doesn't need anyone to "stick up" for him, but I feel strongly inclined to do so right now!!
He is one of the most helpful, humorous and compassionate human beings on this forum and lots of people think he's great!
(And you'd better beware if Maryann finds out about this thread!!
)
I don't want to get involved in any "spat" - I just want to say "you're great, Matt"

Mitzyboy is right. I haven't been a member for long, but if you read through the posts you will find that it is the norm. Sorry, but it is. So maybe this forum is not what you are looking for...
There are other sites for expats, but this is the best I have found. It's a fun, friendly place with really good advice from those members who have already taken the plunge and moved.
Maybe the banter does not always appeal to everyones sense of humour, but as Rugbymatt has explained, we are all of different ages and backgrounds so I suppose inevitably sometimes humour or opinions can cause offence (without intention).
Rugbymatt – I always enjoy reading your posts – so please don’t stop!

Thanks guys, much appreciate the words, I hope that Toyboy keeps posting and sees that this site is as good as it gets with Expat sites, and the people on it are nice, sincere and for the most part helpful.

I did of course very clearly say that it was ‘none of my business’ that you post 31.63 posts per day. But thanks for the well thought out post.
So who exactly was this comment about then?
I hate to think what you got admonished for, if all this wrecking and insults are acceptable.
I suppose there's not much point asking where did I suggest that this forum is a school governors’ meeting?
I said I didn't agree with forum Nazis

And what insults? Is wrecking not a touch over the top?
Anyway, I am in the mood for olive branches today, fancy burying the past and just getting on with it?
