Totally irrelevant of course. There have been plenty of adulterous liasons in the royal family over the years. In fact some people make comments about a current prince, but I think I'll desist as I live too close to Buck House.
Reassuring to know that most of us probably have something in common with the Royals then.

The royal family have the advantage of being extremely wealthy so they don't need much financial help from us to perform their duties - unlike other countries' heads of state. As far as I am aware all they get is the civil list monies - about 7 million - which is funded from a reserve within the Crown Estates. It offsets some of the expenses incurred by the royal family in the course of their duties.

Not everyone, and the royal magic still works as so many butt kissers are in love with the whole shebang.

I just can't stomach it all.

I wondered at some of the anti-monarchy sentiment on this thread, it seems perverse for sensible British people to think that way.

But then it dawned on me, we are expats who have chosen to leave the UK, for whatever reasons, but they couldn't have been patriotic ones.

I'm looking forward to watching the wedding, the whole world needs a boost in these difficult times and it's got to beat looking at bomb craters in Libya. Or checking the currency exchange every five minutes.

You must have been a Daily Mail reporter in a past life, it is the type of rather silly comment that would be used in that rag. If I wanted to stir it I could type that any pro monarchist has to be anti democratic but then I have a little more respect for people´s views.

Talking about royal families did anyone see the photo of the spanish royals in the news. King was looking very strange with a wild beard. They said that close up he looked very unkempt. Then there is the anorexic lollipop head Letizia, looks as if Kate will go the same way.

Really? The few pics I have seen of her, she appears fairly normal. I don't remember any pics where she is starting to look starved like so many so-called celebs on the diet circuit.

Got a ref?

I will be taking myself off for a long walk in the mountains, that way I can be sure I will not accidentally see a moment of this irrelevant event. I do feel sorry for my girlfriend however, who will be working in a bar and will be forced to endure the whole thing

I'm not pro-monarchist and the Daily Mail is not my favourite newspaper, but I respect people's views concerning an institution admired the world over.

On top of that, this is about two young people getting married in a glare of publicity not of their making, and you clearly don't understand the meaning of democracy with your daft assertion that pro-monarchy equates to anti-democracy.

Mind you apparantly the Mail is criticising the royals for not inviting Blair and Brown.

What really hacks me off about all this rigmarole about this wedding is that so many think WE ought to be estatic about it ! I am NOT I do not know them, they have been living together for years and they are no better than me in my eyes. I fail to see why watching this pomp and ceremony is going to make me feel any better, fed up already with all the crap that has taken over the TV. My TV will be off all day and evening, I dare say the re runs will move many decent programmes off air grrrrrrrr

The spanish media is more respectful of their royal family than the British but they have refered to her being anorexic over the years. This is the first that came up on google, seems to be lots more.
