Re: Proof of income for residency
I was in Orihuela Costa Town Hall yesterday waiting to see someone and two families there were asked to go away and get proof of resources from their banks to show that they have enough money coming in to keep themselves before they could apply for residencia. One couple were retired and the other was younger and of working age with no employment in Spain.

Re: Proof of income for residency
Woman we know, German, lived here for about 10 years, fully employed by an International business went to the local extranero to get her out of date residencia renewed.
Was told to go away and get proof of income, proof of accommodation, proof of registration with Social Security. But when she gets it they won't do anything as they are still waiting to be told what information they require.
Makes no sense, she already has an NIE (for life), is in paid work, has payslips, bank account etc.
Who gains out of this except the "civil" servants who will be going on short time "summer routine" any day now.

It seems to me it's only required by Spain if it suits the current thinking of the time - otherwise it's conveniently forgotten about. Goes for a lot of things.

Re: Proof of income for residency
if it is a legal requirement to have a (in date) Residencia, when one expires (although mine doesnt have an expiry date) and the powers that be refuse to re-issue then where does that leave the individual ??

Succinctly put. And anyway if you had one and you have been here more than five years why do you need another one? Has anyone tried asking for the book of complaints?

Well at last they have.
A new "Order" was passed last week clarifying the new rules and the Embassy have provided this translation.

Needless to say, each individual office will interpret the new guidance to suit themselves and chaos will continue to reign!

Re: Proof of income for residency
I can't see it being a problem for any UK pensioners. They have to accept that a UK pension is adequate and of course they qualify for full health care under the E121/S1 rules.
There could be a major problem for anyone else.
