The trouble with cynicism, and I'm full of it, is that it can overwhelm you. You end up believing in nothing, and it's not good.

There's nowhere to seek solace, the churches are full of shirt-lifters, and the alternatives are full of nutters.

You could wind up talking to trees, but deep down I don't think that's the solution either.

Never a dull moment.

Being the Sabbath day and all that I thought we might get a little break from it.

I dunno mate, I dunno.

I think that if you get to our age, and you aren't cynical and paranoid, then you simply aren't paying attention.

Who's next? I suspect they're all sticking to their right of silence, but all it takes is for one of them to crack, and it could easily happen. My money would be on Brooks and her flaky temperament.

The Commissioner is bound to go, but where on earth are they going to find an honest man or woman to take his place? If Cameron goes, we automatically get Clegg, is that an improvement?

These people have all been having free dinners with News International practically every day of the week, no wonder they all look a bit bloated.

Great stuff.
Some excellent casting in there.
Mick Hucknall as Rebekah Brooks and Rowan Atkinson as Ed Millipede.
Now looking forward to the sequel, Murdocks in Dock-The Movie.

I would say that the problem is that people haven't been cynical enough about our leaders and the rest of the 'Great and the Good'.

The first of the Great and Good has gone, the whiter than white brigade have proved that they are no better at running things than the villains of the past. At least with our past villains like Blair, we knew what we had, liars, but liars with charm.

That idiot, Boris Johnson, will now appoint a new Commissioner, God help the good people of London.

Why do these people always resign and never get sacked:huh: The Commissioner should have been booted out yesterday.

A lot of clichés come to mind with all this farce

People in glass houses shouldn't throw stones
Burning down the house to get rid of a rat
Let he who is without sin cast the first stone

Tonight Keith Vaz has been on spouting, corruption has dogged him throughout his political career but he still survives. Infact most of the vociferous opponents of Murdoch all have history of having an axe to grind. Why do they expect the public to be riled up about this, F... knows! We just exchange one tosser for another:thumbdown:

Re: Phone hacking hypocrisy

the Sunday Times says Stephenson received a £12k freebie from Champneys (20 days recuperation after hospital treatment earlier this year)
The PR Rep for Champneys is Neil Wallis who also worked for Stephenson at the Met

So presumably Stephenson having resigned this counts as retirement and so he will be able to collect his massive pension based on a £276,000 salary + benefits.
Further down the greasy pole, if they found a PC had done similar they would have had all sorts of inquiries and then fired him.

How likely is it he will be charged with anything - even a parking ticket would be a start.
Where will he pop up next ? Unlikely now it will be at a NI company, but someone will step in inside the next 6 months.

I always thought Vaz was a greaser and not to be trusted so I have always been surprised that he has managed to get to where he is.
Teflon man or just clever in using the Race card ? ?

Quite a bit of both I think.

Something of a chequered history as they say.
