The Aztecs used to choose a king every year, and at the end of the year, he would be ritually killed. I'm thinking that maybe it's time we tried a system like that with politicians. |
Re: Phone hacking hypocrisy
It looks like the potential supergrasses are lining up, a couple would have done but at the last count there were at least four.
If the police ignore the dross, they'll go against Rebekah Brooks, Andy Coulson and James Murdoch, and possibly against old Rupert himself. The dock at the Old Bailey will be a more uncomfortable place than facing some daft committee of MPs. Telling lies comes naturally to the press, and the police, and the politicians, but this time they've gone too far. And the electronic and paper trail is miles long. |

Did the police manage to get his files.? with all that has come out so far the police daren't miss anyone out this time, whoever is in charge of that will know they have a poisoned chalice. Where is the Information Commissioner in all this ? ? |

Re: Phone hacking hypocrisy
Common sense has gone out of the window on this one. The two most sensible guys have had to resign, on the Old Bill side, News International have slaughtered anyone that might harm their reputation, and the police, led by a lady who hasn't got a clue what to do next, will undoubtedly pursue everything that comes her way.
The list of possible defendants, from the press and the police, will be enough to fill Wembley stadium. The reputation of the UK will be f***ed forever. Why? Because the voice mails of our Royal Princes were hacked. We should have thrown them to the wolves instead of buggering up the entire country. |

Quite honestly (now that makes a change) if she is the best they have got then they should be doing what they should have done in the first place and brought in a complete team from outside, from a mix of counties to ensure there is no contamination. Most coppers are disgusted by what they are hearing as they all wear the same uniform and the public are wondering if they are taking backhanders or not prosecuting their drinking buddies. |

Re: Phone hacking hypocrisy
As I said previously, the corruption levels in all walks of life are about the same in the UK as they are in Spain. I was going to add that I feel just as safe here as back home, until I remembered . . .
My wife was having her nails done on our terrace and I was retrieving the dog's toy from the swimming pool when I heard gun shots and a bullet hit our main gate. We all went down to investigate and found that two Guardia Civil officers had stopped a car in the street and were firing their revolvers at a young man who was running away. One officer had emptied his revolver and the other one was kneeling down to take careful aim at the young man who by this time was a quarter of a mile away, running like the wind. The officer fired again with no chance of hitting the fleeing youth, but he was firing directly into a line of houses. I soon realised why they hadn't run after the suspect. Both officers were exceedingly fat and well over 50. I went over to ask what the youth had done, but the one who was trying to reload his revolver told me to f*** off. |

Re: Phone hacking hypocrisy
This is now getting close to what the phone hacking was all about.
http://uk.news.yahoo.com/comment/don...170510578.html Mulcaire and Goodman were arrested and went to prison for a short time, and the enquiry was stopped because even a fool could see what damage lay ahead. Everybody was lied to to protect the Royals, the size of the smoking gun was enormous and closely involved the Queen herself, through Andrew. Two ladies at the top of the Yard now hold the poisoned chalice and people are starting to talk. It's too late to shut them up and traditional loyalty is going to be tested like never before. |

And people wonder why I despise the royals. The man is a parasite. (ie taking state money and doing nothing in return.) We don't like parasites, do we boys and girls? He has the kind of personality we normally see in extremely spoilt children, with all the charm and personality of a rabid polecat. Traditional loyalty? Is that where you condone the breaking of the law while kissing the arse that breaks it? An honest police force would go a long way to dissipating the distrust and dislike so many people hold for it, and easing the contempt in which it is so universally held. |
Re: Phone hacking hypocrisy
Before the shit really hit the fan Andrew was working behind the scenes to get his two daughters into the job alongside him. :sneaky:

As someone who stood outside Wapping in '86 for a year on a picket line, i will stop laughing soon.

Is that the same parasite that was flying R.N.choppers in dangerous night time conditions under fire during the Falklands war ? Maybe not cos I don't see a single mention of it. I don't really follow the more mundane affairs of the Royal "parasites" but I imagine there's no smoke without a fire, however its strange his brave role in the Falklands is now rarely if ever worthy of a mention, as in this particular article. As you said bil in the case of Wilson, at least give a guy credit where it's due, even if he was a totally useless waster in all other respects. |
