Sadly one of the unseen victims of this whole sordid affair is Dwight Shultz, the hate mail he is getting is really quite nasty!

Unfortunately you dont have to be relying on him .... it's the repercussions that will screw most people again should it all collapse

but both are "howling mad"......

Maxwell was a crook and messed up UK newspapers and pensions, yet he was praised for being a good competitor for murdoch
Peirs Morgan got sacked from running faked stories and pictures about UK soldiers peeing on captured soldiers in Iraq in the Mirror and is now considered a top UK celeb!!!
Archer is a crook, yet makes millions, and still has his peership.
Richard Desmond owns the Express, OK and many "top shelf" mags, but is deemed OK to own Five.
And to top it all, you have a goverment in the UK which the majority of votors did not vote for!
Yet the MPs were all happy when the Sun and Rups newspapers were supporting them in the elections.

And the laboutr MPs are all tryimng to attack the Tories for this, yet it all happnened when who was in power...wonder if Tony Bliar knew of anything happening...since anyone in ex PMs look as if they are going to be called before this judge....

But it does make you think how many stories and investigations were brought to light by this method....and how many people are now jailed or campaigns started becasue of information obtained this way...

and you cannot belive that no other paper never did anything like this..like pay a policeman for information, or got tip offs from police, of hacked into things....

I think there is more pressing things happening in the world apart from who owns a TV company for MPs to concentrate on...you know like people lossing their jobs, peopel cheating millions out of the benefit system, and oh yes two wars that we are involved in to help keep the oli price down (thats really helping aint it!)...

See that a certain ex Spanish PM José María Aznar is on the board of News Corp, who own News Int....

I see the Murdochs have dropped their bid.
Basically they had little choice against so much opposition, especially in Parliament.
Is it too much to hope that the tail will now stop wagging the dog ?

British Gas have picked up on the New Labour policy of "a good time to make a negative press release" and announced 18% + price hike that seems to have slipped past our brave public servants in the Mother of Parliaments.

Whilst the "fit and proper" test needs to be made, Milliband is fast running out of stones to throw from his glass house and I am now not sure Cameron is strong enough to bring the house back into the real world.

What happened to that nice Nick Whatshisname from the lib-dem thingy ? ?

Re: Phone hacking hypocrisy

Nothing to stop them from bidding in the future...

Dick Ed Millband says "Its a victory for people up and down the country." Does he really think that people really care who owns Sky...most people already thought Rups owned all of Sky in the first place! As long as they get their footie and simpsons i dont think they dont really care! Its just the MPs that care, as it affects their jobs...but they uses the media like the media uses them!

Like I said before, we have someone who runs and operates "porn mags" owning Five! Does that stop people watching Five...or parents refusing to let their kids what thei kids TV programmes on Five...

Ah the Jo Moore school of Spin. On 9/11 the email of "today would be a good day to bury bad press news items!".
World War 3 could start and Dick Ed would still be wanting to know and ask question about Andy Coulson.....

Everyone remember a while back when the newspapers were told they were 'drinking at the Last Chance Saloon'

I thought it sounded like bollocks, and I was right.

Sadly I don't doubt that this will probably slip aside, other shit will come along, and the smartie crunching masses will continue to pay murdoch for yet more slime.

It does make me glad that I stopped buying newspapers all those years ago.

And noone, during all of this, has said reported the fact, release a few weeks ago, that Sky are freezing prices for the next year on their packages...

and having a shuffle around of thei "6 genre" mixes...6 mixes will become 2 mixes...

The always groan when Sky raise their prices in September, but nothing this year from anyone saying thanks for no price increase...in fact nothing has been in the news at all...

Exactly, it's no big deal for average Joe Bloggs yet we have 24 hour non-stop coverage. He is thinking of selling the Times and the Sun but no buyers at the moment. Anyway we can all read the goodies like the Mail and Mirror who would never stoop to underhand tactics. News has always been a dirty business, if they didn't use underhand tactics we wouldn't have any, it would all be one sided press reases.

Can't believe all the emotive stories coming out...Brown crying (he should stop taking those prescription drugs;)) then 2 years later he is photographed with his arm around Murdoch:blink: The real gainers are MP's like Prescott who says he is "delighted" (he would be wouldn't he!), the Royals and a host of celebs. Now the Government have the public on side they will be pushing their press regulation Bill, something they have wanted for a long time. We will be back to the censorship of the 1930's.

So what then? allow these people to hack into everyone's phone, medical reports, as they please? That's hardly censorship, is it?

As for Brown, all the politicians were afraid of offending murdoch and his coven, as they new full well that if they did, they'd have the full weight of the murdoch press against them.

How brave would you be with a metaphorical knife at your throat?

Re: Phone hacking hypocrisy

I have never bought a copy of the News of the World, thought it was a crap paper. This week I realised they also did a lot of good campaigns and exposures which were useful for the general public.

I am not saying that tapping phones is ok. just that all the newspapers use dubious methods...hey they can get someones credit card details within hours. Do you think the Telegraph managed to expose the MP's expenses scandal without resorting to these practices?

Can anyone tell me who else was in the bidding for BSKYB  I have been ignoring stories on it before this week:lol:

I don't doubt that most papers have had dodgy practices. I just think that any such practices shoud be stamped on.

Had they used phone hacking as a took to expose corruption, I wouldn't have minded so much. It is clear that they used it without any restrictions or decency.

As for saying that they did some good, that's a bit like saying Fred West wasn't all bad because he used to cut his elderly neighbour's hedge for her.

as not a Sky subscriber I ask is that the same as the Virgin Media shuffle round that changed the levels of subscription whilst reducing the number of channels ? ?

You make it sound as if not even Sky knew so there wasnt a press release to that effect
