Default Olympic Opening ceremony

I thought the opening Olympic ceremony was very good (watched every minute) but have read a lot of criticism on here by just a few, of just how bad it was,

I'm interested to read the views of these few and invite them here to come forward and give us an idea of what they would have done differently to make it better.

To put a show on like that took a lot of nerve when you look at previous opening ceremonies that I usually turn off after a few minutes.
I thought it was great and showed that we can laugh at ourselves. The amount of work putting that all together is mind boggling.
Boyle deserves a lot of credit as do all involved in it especially the volunteers.

The entering of the teams of athletes is ridiculously long and outdated and the organizers know it.....They could enter from four different points...

Yes well done the volunteers. The only credit I would give Boyle is one of those torches rammed up his back side

I loved it. It was a ceremony celebrating the UK and the concept of the Olympics. Great stuff. The final lighting of the cauldron was very touching and understated. They made it all about the athletes and less about the big name who was going to light it.

A++ from me

Yes they were, not real drums though, it was soundtrack.

One volunteer on TV said they had been treat really well and had a fantastic time

If it was soundtrack they still looked like they were putting their heart and soul into it.

Good to see all those young people dedicated to the unpaid role they had. Sort of knocks the stereotype often discussed on here about all UK's youth being layabouts doesn't it. At least they should give them a big party to thank them...with entertainment donated free by some music celebs

Default Olympic opening ceremony

What a fabulous display was put on last night.
Congratulations to Danny Boyle and all his team.

Makes you proud to be British!

"Watching the Olympics with a Seroxat dependency" has a ring to it.

Um, I think that was rather the point.

British isn't a race, it's a culture, and that culture is a compilation of lots of cultures that enrich us.
