Yes you can do. As long as you have the converted file it should be fine :-)

I've read this with interest because I like my techie toys (ask my wife).

I know what you have said about being able to see the screen even in the sun but I am having a problem taking that in as any screen I have looked at in the sun has always sent me back indoors.

Have to be honest and say that if I was buying a device to put book downloads on it wouldn't be a Kindle but there appear to be many satisfied customers so what do I know.

Has anyone tried buying one of the android tablets going for between £60 and £100 on e-bay?

Me, I'm carrying on using those paper things - books. When in Spain I buy them in Pego on market day and here in the UK I buy them at 3 for a fiver in The Works.

Not saying I won't change my ways but must go for now - the candles gone out and I've got to get some more water from the well.

All my books have been free, and I've read about 60 so far on the kindle, at your quoted prices I've already saved the cost of my kindle, and have something like another 3000 ready to move to it to read, probably will only cherrry pick from the 3000, but won't have wasted any money. Getting them free means I can also try new authors at no cost.

My wife reads it in the sun. She says the new kindles are just like looking at the page of a book, therefore its not like when you look at a laptop screen in the sun when you cant see a thing

It's truly amazing in the sun. I shall take a photo but remember I have a screen protector on mine which unfortunately does reflect a bit.

Here you go:

Kindle vs iphone

In sunlight:

Indoors:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/6061728...n/photostream/

Both instances the Kindle is much easier on the eyes...

They were both displaying a page of a book when the photos were taken.

Am I not right in thinking the free ones are not the best-selling authors such as Lee Child, Harlan Coban, Patterson, If you can get any of these authors free I can only think they would be dodgy

I think you must be the exception and not the rule as most folk use Amazon for downloads (I believe but don't quote me)

Books are often read underwater by divers on decompression stops

Got, and read, the whole Lee Childs 'Ranger' series, including the latest one, most of these are available within a few hours of coming out in paperback, if you know where to look. Quality of the downloads is excellent.

Which is the Ranger Series? Jack Reacher?

I thought I'd read all of them but think I've missed some of the earlier ones, tried to find them but not had any luck yet.
