That's correct, you have to download onto the computer, then treat the kindle as an extra drive, so you will see it if you click on your computer, then just drag the file into the DOCUMENTS section on the kindle,.

But then how does the information get to the Kindle if you can´t get the Kindle to go online?

Well all up and running now. Had a problem getting the Wifi sorted and then I downloaded a book but it didn´t download properly so I had to ring them up. I was also given information by someone about Calibre, which is very interesting once I manage to sort that out. Trouble is I have spent two days doing nothing but playing!!!!

So why does Amazon say you can only order from their store? Does it make their warranty invalid?

Perhaps their own store is the only one, officially, with the files in the corect format, but as you know, there are programmes for everything, including such things as converting PDF files to mobi files, or perhaps it's to make more money, or is thaat a bit cynical??

I've not managed to find what I want to read on any sites yet, could someone pm me the best ones? I've had one suggestion but couldn't access it atm.

Calibre I'm not sure if I've worked it out properly...how does it get from there to my Kindle?

Also, do I find my Kindle books on my pc and put those into the Calibre folder too or will that screw things up for me? Should I just copy and paste?

The downloads get downloaded to your pc. Then you open Calibre and there is a import file tab. You import the file. If it's already in mobi format then you need do no more than connect your kindle and select "transfer to device". If its a pdf file, or a word document you just need to use the "convert" button before transferring the file to your kindle, and it changes it from the txt or pdf doc to mobi.

Your kindle books on your pc are already on your kindle arent they? If not, if you want to you can import them into Calibre

My issue has been that if I convert them it leaves both files do I delete the original one?
