I didn't bother googling it, but somehow I find myself questioning whether who makes the most or the best olive oil has anything to do with anything.

But I'd get a good laugh if we all found out that some obscure and unexpected place produces orders of magnitude more olive oil than any other place on earth.

Yet, here we are, several pages of debate... solely for the purpose of proving or disproving that Spain is again, #1 in everything.

Why buy premium oil to make bio diesel when "not safe for human consumption" oil gets turned into it anyway? Doesn't really make sense does it?

I see they have collecting points for used oil in many areas of Spain now.

What they do with it, biodiesel or other use I haven't a clue.

The figures out there are only for food grade olive oil, the site shows figures for pomace and for non food grade.

I've heard it said myself and it seems to be true.

I certainly won't be using any.
A blocked filter on a cold Winters night ain't much fun at all.

A very good mate of mine fills his Renault van with Lidl veg oil, been doing it for years, never had to change any of the filters more than usual, never has a problem, in winter he cuts it 40/60 with diesel to stop it getting too foggy but that's it. I have been told this is impossible, been told it can't be done, been told that the van could never run but year after year he runs the van and no matter how many times I tell people they still insist it can't be done. Funny old world innit? (Hope you had a great day hun)

Back to the original question - we're going to see a lot more Russian tourists in Spain (well, Catalonia), even more than came last year...

This summer season, airports in Catalonia are to greet about 200 daily flights from Russia, double the amount compared to a year ago.

Will the Brits still visit if the place is overun by Russians? Seen them in Banus and not the atmosphere you would want! Not sure if it's possible to get away from them, friends said they have spoiled Crete.

Will anybody ?

No doubt they bring in a bit of cash but in other respects they seem to be bad news wherever they go.

I see there's been a huge increase in cruise visitors to Valencia, it seems at the expense of Barcelona which is not getting such a good press these days as it was previously.
I don't see the Ruskies doing much to improve that situation either, though no doubt there are a number of other factors involved.

Didn't people say the same about Germans? What normally happens is they get billeted in separate hotels, sometimes in their own resort. Not always, I know, but the operators know it works out better that way.

Even the Germans move out when the Russians arrive.

I've come across numerous posts and articles to that effect, as well as seen some of it myself.
Apart from exporting their Mafia culture, the Ruskies are definitely not good for business in the long term, but I suppose the locals see it as one guys money is as good as the next in the short.
