[QUOTE=Fredbargate;11561294]Because we can.
We don't need an excuse, after all we have to keep up our reputation as the centre of all the world's evil.

I see that yet again you have resorted yet again to the wibble wibble defence.
Surely their must be someone with brains in the government o Gibraltar who.realised that granting itself a quota for something it does not need would cause another problem with the neighbours.
That is of course unless someone stood to gain from the act. ??

Whereas not having a limit of any kind would not pose any problems with the neighbours. Nothing in that to give them fuel for the fire I am sure.

Two locals arrested by Guardia Civil in Gib waters
Author: GBC
Date: 22 July 2012 at 09:30
Two local men were arrested on Friday night by the Guardia Civil approximately 200m off Europa Point, in British Gibraltar territorial waters. The Guardia Civil took the two Gibraltarians and their vessel to Algeciras, reporting them for fishing tuna in Spanish waters.
Speaking to GBC on condition of anonymity, the two men caught up in Friday night’s unsavory incident told us they landed a tuna approximately 12 miles out from Gibraltar in waters recognised internationally as 'high seas'.
GBC understands the Spanish Bluefin tuna quota for recreational anglers had elapsed several weeks earlier.

I am puzzled though Fred where the boat etc came from as you posted more than once that there was no facility or interest in catching Bluefin in Gibraltar.
Two Gibraltarians out of pocket and if past events are repeated the fish will go to the local food banks in Spain
This will certainly not be the last episode of this type.

Before diverting the issue to another irrelevant point, you might benefit from going back to the original facts you've completely ignored - 10 or 11 pages back in this thread.
But as I know you'll never bother, here's a reminder;
Spain enjoys some astronomical bluefin quota (that it wants increased) - hundreds of tonnes IIRC, and they catch that quota within a short time of the season opening. IIRC, Portugal has a similar rap sheet.
Gibraltar, in contrast, has a self-imposed quota of 10 tonnes, and it's primarily to serve a handful of sport fishermen and possibly (although I haven't seen evidence of it yet) a few commercial vessels. It's not a big place. It can't support much of a fishing industry, even if it exists. That is a fact. It's indisputable. You can argue it until you're blue in the face, but at the end of the day, you're left with the truth.
So, what exactly, is your farking dogmatic problem? The fish story is dead, Bubba. Died umpteen pages back. Read your own epitaph. You're flogging a dead fish.
And whilst the tax evasion thing is conveniently sensational at the moment, that was getting boring too.
Move on to something else, for christ's sake. I still like the voodoo idea. I think that has entertainment written all over it, and could increase your readership by orders of magnitude.

It proves yet again that the morons on both side of the border continue to behave like 12 year olds.

OMG!!! They’re here! Voodoo Monkeys have been filmed at a local rock club in…you’ve guessed it…Gibraltar!
If you happen to see a Voodoo Monkey in your local high street, then blame Gibraltar: they seem to get the blame for everything else.

Aww damn! It says that because of privacy settings, it can't be played.
No doubt those damned Gibs are blocking it to hide their voodoo atrocities.
Wait... freedom of speech! Surely that's not allowed in Gib is it? I'd say this is pretty damning proof of it.
The plot sickens.

I am guessing here that their theme song is 'So long and thanks for all the fish?'

But then such idiotic behaviour explains the mindset of some in Gibraltar.
At least there was not a reference to the Treaty of Utrecht but I am not holding my breath that we will see that reference yet again in the not too distant future.

Spain made claims that the Falkland Islands were held under provisions in the 1713 Treaty of Utrecht which settled the limits of the Spanish Empire in the Americas
