Hongkong is Ok for another couple of years, Chinese and Indian banks might be useful. 2 to 3 years ago Italian banks weren't giving loans but they were plonking vast sums in Indian banks where they were getting 9+ % on BCE loans at 0.5%. And why not, the banks need all the help they can get, poor sods.

We were informed by our Monaco bank that they would be compliant with EU banking transparency regulation as of Jan 1 2015, and we were asked to sign a document permitting account disclosure to the country of residency. I have a copy of the unsigned doc should you wish it. Up until 3years ago I had been in HK for several years and investigated international banking opportunities there. I was informed that US companies/US citizens accounts would be closed before 31/12/2014 rather than becoming compliant and that EU citizens would probably be in the same situation as of 31/12/2016. Friends of mine from Commonwealth countries are still taking advantage of the present situation. Rest was hearsay and a newspaper cutting from Chinese and Indian colleagues working with me in Korea in 2013.

Maybe1day the lack of a link is in reference to Endless Moronic Rants who almost never produces any link to back up it's rants.

You obviously do not watch or listen to any of the UK TV or radio news outlets.
No wonder you know so little of what is happening in the UK and how the elctorate thinks about tax havens.

I have realised that this thread has the wrong title.
It is not as it appears to be a thread to discuss anything that relates to Gibraltar but should just be " Freds Daily Bulletins " Do not post unless you agree with everything and anything in the daily bulletin.

Last reference on BBC was at 9.32.
But don,t worry your money is probably safe as fortunately Labour wil not be elected
But the Tories will have to respond so as not to lose the initiative

Sky news bundled Gibraltar in with the others this morning which surprised me since the BBC did not mention in the buliten I heard last night. I did not think that the sort of thing milliband was talking about (company disclosure and the like) was already disclosed by Gib.

Gibraltar completes its passage from ‘tax haven’ to international financial centre
By: Hannah Beecham | 21 Jun 2013
An arduous 15-year journey from ‘tax haven’ to international financial centre is complete,
James Tipping, director of Gibraltar’s Finance Centre, and one of the chief route-planners for the journey, is adamant that its jurisdiction has arrived at its destination with integrity and reputation intact. Tipping’s work now focuses on marketing Gibraltar as a world-class finance centre and ensuring that any lingering misconceptions about the running of its business affairs are well and truly dispelled.
Ever since the start of 2011, with the enactment of Gibraltar’s new income tax act, the Rock has been classified as an “onshore†jurisdiction. With over 20 tax information exchange agreements (TIEAs) now signed, Gibraltar has criminalised tax evasion and adopted all EU, OECD and international initiatives. Over the next two years, Tipping anticipates the international information exchange for tax purposes agenda will accelerate, something which, he insists, will be to Gibraltar’s good. “The Rock [Gibraltar] is committed to low tax rather than no tax and quality business is what’s sought, not quantities.â€

All companies are now onshore and taxed equally.

With £9billion in tax avoided/evaded in tax havens it is not small beer.
The " offshore Companies House site Gibraltar as a tax haven " stresses the confidentiality of operating in Gibraltar.

Fred has made reference to Gibraltar conforming to the OECD rules but Labour obviously do not judge this as enough.

Junta President urges Spanish Government to end Gibraltar conflict
Author: GBC
Date: 07 February 2015 at 10:29
The Junta de Andalucia president is urging the Spanish Central Government to end its conflict with Gibraltar, due to the impact its having on La Linea’s residents, this according to Europa Sur. Susana Diaz’s comments followed a visit to Asansull’s sheltered housing, where she spoke to the service users and workers.
Commenting on the current state of affairs, she said the Junta has always offered to help and collaborate. She expressed concern over the people affected, the workers who cross the frontier ever day, and the establishments in La Linea which are losing business, with many having had to close due to the impact current relations has had on commerce. The sooner this conflict is resolved the better, she said.
According to Europa Sur, Susana Diaz said the Junta can offer dialogue, and asked for a solution for the benefit of the workers from the Campo de Gibraltar, and more especially those in La Linea. This futile debate is taking us nowhere, she affirmed.

EMR is not alone. Many people naively subscribe to the view that anyone who pays less tax can only be dubious.
Its no surprise, its a perfect deflection of the real issue: that we pay too much tax in the first place.
And I find it more-than-coincidental that "deflection" is a common tactic exhibited by both EMR and the likes of Miliband, the EU, and all those who traditionally favour higher taxation. If the tax isn't going directly into our pockets, then it's "tax evasion". And if they pay any lower tax elsewhere, it's a "tax haven".
And if you think about it, extortion tactics long employed by the Mafia are not really dissimilar. Paying "protection" keeps you from suffering the penalties of "evading" it. Not all that different, really.
