In its ruling, the panel found that “…under public international law the sovereignty of Gibraltar is clearly British and no actual legal dispute is presently pending.”

Not only that, the panel concluded “…there is no legitimate dispute, as Spain ceded Gibraltar to the United Kingdom in 1713 pursuant to Article X of the Treaty of Utrecht…”

The CAS decision will be relevant in future every time Spain seeks to use its sovereignty claim to deprive Gibraltar from something it is entitled to as a matter of law.

Gibraltar has the second lowest registered unemployment figure in the world

Local unemployment has fallen to less than 1% with the Rock clinching the second lowest unemployment rate in the world, the Gibraltar Government said yesterday.

Last month the number of those unemployed reached a new low with 157 registered, down from last year’s tally of 164 people registered unemployed.

The unemployment rate currently stands at 0.49% and according to the government this is the second lowest unemployment rate in the world. Qatar holds the record for least unemployment with 0.4%.

Hi Fred
I'm hoping to visit Gib for a couple of nights towards the end of the month and I was hoping if you could give me a little advice?
We hope to stay at the Sunborn - just to enjoy a little luxury in my passing years . However, their web site says that they have no parking, which is a bit surprising. I googled about a bit and the common reply is that parking is murder in Gib and just drive around until you find a space and grab it. Not really ideal. Previous short visits I have parked in Spain and walked across to the bus stop but I wouldn't want to leave my car for a couple of nights on the roadside in Spain
I wonder if you knew of any secure parking anywhere close to the Marina Don't mind paying a little .

There are other car parks nearby but I have no idea of prices, I use the free buses to travel within Gibraltar

In a case that will ‘set a precedent’ for future cross-border cases, the Madrid court backed a Gibraltar Court ruling that Manos Limpias union leader Miguel Bernad must pay Picardo £30,000 in compensation following the defamatory comments made in front of the European Commision.

A total of £1,500 will now be seized from Bernad’s pension for describing Picardo as ‘an accomplice, collaborator and co-operator in smuggling, drug trafficking and money laundering’, in 2013.

Leading Gibraltarian lawyer Charles Gomez believes that this ‘high-profile’ ruling will send a message out to Spaniards who think they are beyond the reach of Gibraltar’s courts.

Sep 20 - Additional Spot In UEFA Europa League For Gibraltarian Team

The Gibraltar FA is pleased to announce that UEFA have this morning confirmed the grant of an additional spot in next year’s UEFA Europa League to Gibraltarian clubs.

This means that as from next season, three Gibraltarian clubs will participate in UEFA club competitions, as follows:

First Division Champions - UEFA Champions League

Rock Cup Champions - UEFA Europa League

First Division Runners-Up - UEFA Europa League

Therefore, in addition to this season’s winner of the Rock Cup, the First Division runner-up will also participate in the UEFA Europa League next year. Should the winner of the Rock Cup already have qualified for Europe by virtue of being 1st or 2nd in the league, then the additional UEFA Europa League spot will pass to the 3rd placed team in the league.
